We visited the places Weni, Drew, and Henry had gone to when they were in Mississippi. I got to kill a few demons, which eased my nerves a little. From those demons we’d learned that they’d crossed a powerful demon. The man right under Lucifer, to be exact. He was the one who over saw all cross roads deals and held onto the souls when it was time to go claim the people. We couldn’t get a name, no one was that stupid. They would tell us, and die, or they could not tell us, and die.

“We’re starting to face desperate times.” I mumbled. We were sitting in a dinner, it was four days after we’d found Weni. I had barely eaten, too busy hunting a demon who’d give me the cross road demons name. By taking me here, it was Castiel’s way of saying “Eat or I’ll shove food down your throat.” I wasn’t sleeping much either. It felt wrong doing anything but looking for them. That’s why I had a map and my laptop on the table, compiling a layout of all the demon activity going on in Jackson. I was going to investigate the place as Henry would and hopefully find myself right where he was, or at least somewhere he’d been.

I chewed on my marker, scrolling down the page of lists I’d made on my laptop. “Rora, eat something before I shoot you, and put you out of your misery.” Gabe mumbled. He wasn’t one to talk. He stayed up with me every night helping. Of course, he ate ten times more, it was his way of coping. I glared at him across the table and closed the laptop. “Your aim sucks.” I mumbled, capping my marker and putting it in my bookbag. I folded my map up neatly and put it inside of it’s folder, and then my bookbag. I put my laptop in it’s case and put it in there as well. Gabe shook his head at me. “Your are the neatest Hunter I have ever seen, I swear.” I shrugged and picked up the menu for the first time. “It’s how I get stuff done.” Gabe chewed on his bottom lip and looked over the menu as well. “Yeah well I’m just glad me and Hen has a sister who likes research or we would never have gotten anything done.” They were more physical people. They wanted to go in, guns blazing with no idea what they were up against. I took my time, carefully plotting out my attack, and attacking in the most effective way. Granted it was a much longer process, but it’s the way I could work.

“Yeah well what have you found Gabriel?” He narrowed his eyes at me and put the menu down on the table. “A whole freaking swarm of demons.” He said cockilly and my eyes widened but I kept my face placid. “Oh really, and how’d you do that?” Gabe leaned back in the booth and laced his fingers behind his head. “I went to a bar, with Liam. You know Henry’s process. The whole place was swarming with demons. I thought I was dead meat, but nobody would approach Liam so I kinda glued myself to his side.” Castiel came up to the booth and slid into the seat next to me. He’d stepped out to take a phone call. “That’s because Liam is connected to me. I am feared, respected, or just left alone by many species. Demon’s tend to steer clear of me. I have a God on my side whilst their maker is locked in a cage in hell.” Castiel pecked my cheek and slid his hand over my knee. “Well anyway. Liam did some talking, I did some hiding. I have zero shame about it. Turns out Henry and Drew came in there about two weeks ago, asking questions that made people suspicious. So they were followed. Their boss liked one of them for unknown reasons.” I mentally stored the information and nodded. I was itching to go to the bar myself now. I’d have Cass with me, meaning I’d probably get more information.

“Lana called. She’s in Texas. She actually got a lead from some demons she encountered in Georgia. Something is going on, it ain’t good. Demon’s are organizing on a bigger scale than I’ve seen before.” The waitress came to the booth and I snapped my mouth shut, smiling up at her. We ordered our drinks, and food. I waited until she was a good distance away before turning back to Gabe.

“You think this has anything to do with my mom?” Gabe thought it over before nodding slowly. “That would explain why they had an interest in them. That’s if she’s still being possesed.” I didn’t understand what taking Henry could do for the demon inside of my mother. Henry and I had always thought our mother had died. There’s no way she could have survived being possessed all that time. “I want to know who the hell is inside of my mother’s meat suit.” I grumbled. Castiel moved his hand to my thigh and squeezed before moving it back down. He’d been touching me a lot lately. His wolf was always close to the surface, I could tell by the way his eyes remained a darker blue than their normal color. He was also a lot quieter.
