She had died. Why Kagome? Why are you leaving me?
Those were the first thoughts that came to Inuyasha's mind after he heard what lady Kaede had said. He had been happy thinking about how they would have a little family together and live happily for many many years. He believed that would be his fate and he would have it no other way.
So why did this happen? Why did she have to die?
Inuyasha hadn't laid his eyes on their newborn child and he didn't want to.
He loved Kagome full-heartedly, and he was sure he would love his child just as much, but he was afraid. He was afraid that when he would meet them for the first time he would look at them with hatred and disgust. It was a scary thought. Inuyasha didn't want to hate that child.
Anything but that.
For the next hour or two Inuyasha would stand in front of the place his child rested in, building up the courage to face them. The white-haired demon didn't know the gender cause he didn't ask. He stopped lady Kaede after she told him his child was healthy. Miroku and Sango, who were present the entire time, were there with Inuyahsa after they heard the unfortunate news. They comforted him the best they could. Lady Kaede told them it might be a good idea to let him sort his thoughts on his own. It was better that way. They had reluctantly agreed but checked upon him from time to time.
So now Inuyasha stood there gritting his teeth unsure about every aspect of his life. He could smell the child's sweet and familiar scent.
They smelled just like Kagome.
'Damn it!' He cursed himself. 'Why? Why was this happening?'
Kagome's body was being buried and he wasn't there. He didn't want to see her lifeless body. He wanted to preserve the pristine image of her in his mind and nothing less. Inuyasha was sure he wouldn't be able to keep his sanity if he saw her. He would visit her grave but he refused to see her before that. To be honest the only thing that stopped him from going into a rage-full rampage was the fact his child was right here.
Inuyasha clenched his arm and slumps down.
'What do I do?' He sighed. 'How do I live without you?'He wasn't quite sure he could. The white-haired demon wanted to die and go meet her in the afterlife but that felt wrong in a way. Could he just leave his child behind? The thought reminded him of his childhood and his mother. She never left him behind, no matter what slander she received.
Then suddenly he heard a cry; his baby. At that moment a feeling emerged in him and a few things cleared up. Kagome was gone and Inuyasha would probably never love anyone as he loved her.
But most importantly, he must protect his child.
It was Sango's turn to check up on Inuyasha and when she had she heard the baby whine rushed to go in. Before she could go inside to calm the child, Inuyasha stopped her. Holding out his arm to block her from the entrance.
"Inuyasha if I don't go then the baby will cry." She protested.
"That's why I'm going in to take care of them." He said leaving Sango speechless. He started to walk in. Her eyes softened and she smiled. She was happy that he will finally meet his child.
"It's a girl." She said grabbing his attention. Inuyasha didn't respond and walked in.
He hoped that his child would be just like her mother. When he finally walked up to the small bed where the child laid, he was in awe.
