Y/N's POV

I don't remember who I was before this.

It's probably nothing, right? I mean, we all have bad days.

I feel empty. Lost. Hopeless. Gone.

If a person's heart is still beating but their will to live is no longer intact, are they truly alive?

It would be nice if I could disappear.

Sure, I write for many reasons, but I can't bring my characters off the page to comfort me to save my life. Then again, can anyone do that?

It would be nice if I didn't have to feel this way.

It's late. The article I'm writing is due by midnight tomorrow, but my brain is fried from crying twice today. The inspiration seemed to stop coming.

"You shouldn't be up this late."

I froze in my swivel chair. I knew that voice.

"Loki?" I whispered, glancing around in the darkness.

A magical light appeared in the palm of his hand, making him visible to my weary eyes. "The one and only, my dear. Come now, let's get you to bed."

Loki stood in front of me, offering his hand to me. I remained silent, my mind racing. Was I going crazy?

"You are not crazy, Y/N." I forgot he could read minds.

I reached out to take his hand, and before I knew it I was swept up into his arms.

"How... why are you here?" I asked.

"It's simple, Love. You needed me."

I assumed it was just my tired imagination.

It wasn't.

Loki laid my fatigued figure down on my twin-sized mattress. He pulled the blankets over me with loving care and pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead. Whether I was dreaming or not, I reached out for his hand, clutching it firmly like I was about to say my last words. "Tell me something good," I pleaded wearily. My eyes hurt from the exhaustion, yet I found lying in my bed made it increasingly more difficult to keep them open.

Loki squeezed my hand. "You are more than what you believe," he whispered. I squinted at his soft green eyes. He continued, "there is hope for you, Darling. It's going to be okay."

For the first time in a while, I smiled. Slowly, I closed my eyes, feeling peaceful for once. I felt his cool lips press a gentle kiss to my hand, and before I knew it, I was out like a light.

Strangely enough, when I woke up, the memory of the night before was unusally clear. I was certain it was a dream. It had to be.

I crawled out of my bed, streching sleepily. It was only a matter of time before my article was due. I had better get to work.

Perhaps I cannot bring my characters off of my manuscript to save me, but I could always count on Loki.
