The little paws walk off of my hands and into the kennel, only to curl up next to a stuffed sock monkey. I close the enclosure door and lock it before going back into the backroom to clean up the fur from the cats being brushed.
I hear Eric talking to someone up front, the other voice is too soprano to be Dante so he must be out walking the dogs still. A minute passes and and before I know it, Zelda comes rushing into the backroom holding takeout. "Hey! I brought food, two chicken sandwich meals for us."
I set the bag down the bag for her and begin to take out our food for us. I start digging into the fries, which are salty and savory, but a bit too hot for consumption. I couldn't care less though, food is food. I indulge in the sandwich next which is perfect. The savory chicken with lettuce and mayo delights my taste buds. "You're a lifesaver, Zelda. You have no idea."
She laughs as she bites into her sandwich, "It's no problem. When I got your text, I was only a few blocks out. I'm always down to bring you some food if you're ever hungry." I smile at her and continue to eat my food. It's nice to have a friend like her. "When's Dante getting back?"
I shrug, "He's out walking the dogs right now. I don't know when he'll be back."
"So what do you think about Eric then?"
I shrug, "He's pretty chill, why?"
She giggles, "WelI just spoke to him and he seems into Dante. I don't know if he's really the committal type. He's cute though."
"Oh yeah, I figured something was up with them." She nods and continues to finish her meal, as do I. I savor every bite. I had been craving this for quite a while.
