"Hey, Jo? I'm gonna walk the dogs with Eric, okay?" Dante rushes into the backroom, interrupting me from cooing at a brown and black, newborn puppy as I dry it off.
"Yeah, sure. Have fun, be safe!" I giggle as I go back to holding the puppy like a baby. One of the older pit bulls gave birth to a litter a week or two ago so I'm giving them their first rinse. They're all super sweet pups, the mom is probably as angelic as a dog can get. She was brought here instead of a kill shelter when someone realized she was pregnant. We call her Preggo, like the pasta sauce.
I hear the boys leash all the dogs and leave the clinic to walk them for a few blocks. We've only been working here for a week or two but it's already been so much fun. I'm usually the one bathing and grooming the animals, Dante typically walks them and cleans out the kennels, occasionally feeding them. It's been really inspiring actually. I've been thinking about looking into animal care as a future career. I'm not sure if it's really what I want to do, but I'm loving it so far.
