Every time I walk with you, that smile of yours never fails to brighten my day.
That smile.
The smile that fills me with hope.
The smile that makes me feel better.
The smile that shines so bright that it makes everyone else walking by smile too.
Also you.
You are always so happy.
Always so wonderful.
Always so funny.
Always so welcoming.
Always so friendly.
But I know that I can't see you forever.
That's why it hurts me.
It hurts to know that I will leave you alone.
It hurts to know that I won't be here for long.
It hurts to know that I don't have much time left.
Even so.

I still walk with you, your smile shining brighter than anything.
I haven't told you yet.
I haven't told you that I love you.
I haven't told you that I love you more than anything else.
Even so.
I continue walking with you, along the sides of the lake.
Until everything goes blank.
Everything is now pitch black.
The last thing I see was your smile fading into a pained face, tears covering your eyes.
I give you a pained smile, whispering one thing before my final breath.
"I love you."
And I fall asleep.
