"I'm so happy today!"

Masayang sabi ni Elissa nang tabihan niya ako.

"Why? What happened? Your new crush noticed you?"

Her face scrunched. "No. Beau and Ianna broke up last night!" Bigla uli siyang sumaya nang basagin niya sa akin ang balita.

I remained straight faced. "Uh... What's new? Beau always ends up breaking up with her girlfriends."

Where's the catch in there? That's Beau's norm. Kung makapagpalit talaga si Beau ng girlfriend ay parang nag ge-general cleaning lang siya ng bahay.

She rolled her eyes. "Oo nga pero that's Ianna we are talking about. I don't like her... We don't like her. Remember?"

"You've never liked the girls that Beau had dated."

Saglit siyang natahimik, my words trying sink in through her. "You're right." She wrinkled her nose.

"So, how'd you find out?"

"I heard him talking to someone over the phone... Si Ianna 'yon! Nasa likod kasi siya ng bahay, nag s-smoke," she paused with an eye roll. "Narinig ko pinag-aawayan nila si Celestina. I even heard Beau say in verb... verbalin... ver—"

"Verbatim." I cutted her off.

"Yeah, verbatim. I heard him say, 'My God, Ianna! You are being unreasonable! Celestina and I are in the same class, you can't expect me to not breathe the same air as hers. Maybe we should call it quits, I'm so done.' Ayan! Ganyan na ganyan ang sinabi niya!"

Napatango-tango ako. "Let's watch out for Beau's next girlfriend then... I hope it's Celestina."

Elissa frowned. "You like Celes for my brother?" Hindi niya makapaniwala na sabi.

Ngumuso ako. "Kind of. I think she's brave. I heard her confess her love for Beau."

"That's not bravery, that's stupidity! Ang sabi ni papa ko, hindi dapat ako ang unang umamin na gusto ko ang isang lalaki, dapat siya ang umamin sa akin! He said that I must not chase boys because boys will chase me." Proud na proud niyang sabi, she even flipped her big natural curls.

Natawa ako.

"Alam mo, hanggang ngayon hindi ko pa kinakain 'yung chocolate na ibinagay sa 'kin ni Brixton..." Sabi ko kay Elissa habang naglalakad kami paalis ng building.

Noong monday kasi pinuntahan pa talaga ako ni Brixton sa classroom para bigyan ng chocolates kasi daw kakauwi lang ng pinsan niya galing ibang bansa. He gave me three kinder joy and three bueno! Ibinigay ko kay Elissa yung isang kinder joy at isang bueno.

Tuwang-tuwa ako at maging ang best friend ko. Confirmed daw talaga, crush din ako ni Brixton! Grabe, I'm just twelve! Paano nangyari iyon? I didn't know that it was possible for a an 18 year-old guy to have a crush on a 12 year-old like me. Pero ayoko pang mag boyfriend! I don't even know how that works.
