A dark colored wood cabin laid before them. The building was two stories with an attic on top making the roof come to a pointed shape. Surrounding the cabin was flowers of all kinds, shapes, and colors. The songs of birds echoed throughout the forest creating a sense of peace and relaxation. The grass was a medium tone green and the trees were huge. Sunlight shined upon the cabin in a mystical way and the air was cool from the nearby water.
The three boys looked at each other in silence as reality set upon their minds. A different reality for each of them.
Clay. The reality he would be starting a whole new private life with George. No more trauma no more high school no more pain. They would work through the nightmares together, and George would be happier than ever. His dad would never find him here, he couldn't even if he tried. The only downside, was that in order to create this life they were leaving behind a key part of their lives. Sapnap. After years of guilt for leaving him behind, he was doing it again.
George. He would be spending the rest of his life with the boy of his dreams. He would miss his best friend, but it wasn't like he was losing him. Sapnap could visit whenever he wanted, and if college doesn't work out who knows? Maybe he could join them someday. He would still have the nightmares to deal with, but there was hope. Real hope for the first time in awhile. In the back of his mind he still feared the return of his aunt, but the odds she would find them here were slim. Near impossible.
Sapnap. He was letting go. Forced to do so. His best friends, his platonic soulmates. They were leaving him. George leaving was a new pain but Clay leaving was like history repeating itself. He would always have the option to come visit, but who knows how often that would actually happen. College, work, money, and time were all huge factors. The only thing keeping him from dropping college and moving in with them was one person. A person he had become close with throughout everything. A person who has nothing to do with all the chaos of the past months, but yet helped him through it without even knowing. A person who granted him an escape through calls and texts and talking in school.
Life is a complicated and terrifying thing. It's also a loving thing in the end though, and that love is what causes the pain everyone experiences throughout their life. The one thing that keeps everyone grounded and somewhat sane is love. Love for people, love for things, the love you receive. Love all kinds, materialistic, platonic and romantic. That's what matters the most. Without love, there's no life.
As these thoughts turned and turned through their anxious minds, they began to unload their luggage. None of them spoke a word through this process, too busy thinking to form real verbal words. The occasional nod and smile was shared but they all knew how big of a change this was. Sweat formed on their foreheads and their skin began to feel dry from carrying so many heavy bags back and forth. Pictures of their future arranged and dissembled in their minds. Anxiety grew and shrank within them. The future is a scary thing.
Clay and Sapnap would be driving to pick up Clay's new car soon. It was put under Sapnap's name to keep Clay safe from his dad and they would be paying it all of right away. Sapnap had extra money from his college fund since he received the scholarship and Clay had money from his mom's will.
"So." Sapnap said, looking down at his feet.
"So." George and Clay said in almost perfect unison.
"This is...wierd." Sapnap commented.
"Yeah...Yeah a bit weird." Clay agreed. This was their first time speaking since they arrived.
"Clay we should get going, car dealership is a bit of a drive from here."
Clay nodded in agreement with his best friend.
George ran over and placed a small kiss on Clay's cheek, accidentally kissing the scarred one and making Clay flinch. "Sorry, drive safe."
