Severus stared with tiger eyes. He realized that indeed she was an odd woman. She was powerful. Hungry. The energy radiating from her was extraordinary yet fierce. He couldn't pinpoint her intentions. Was she trying to catch the attention of other men? Or simply the fact that she is not the welcome type. This woman was hiding things and he could taste them.
Behind those intelligent sets of eyes, he could see pain. Similar to himself. He could still see the sparkle, yes but if you look closely the trauma emitted off her. It was oozing out slowly waiting for patches to cover her up. She was waiting for protection. A sense of comfort.
He was never going to give her that.
He hated the way she made him think. He hated how her shiny eyes looked at him. The way she smiled like a child begging for candy. She was asking for attention and he would not give in. Maybe she thought he was amongst other men at the pub waiting for some low-level prostitute. At his younger times maybe but his older self closed all deals.
How could he possibly get along with her? She was irritating and talkative. Aurora poked at the most awkward situations making him scowl in response. She was a friendly person. Always smiling even when uncomfortable. She gleamed and made the party alive.
He was the exact opposite.
Ignored anyone he could. Colleagues spoke to him on occasional days. It was as if Albus ordered them to do so. He hated that. Severus tolerated Minerva. She was a handful but was always there when he wanted to address. The occasional cup of tea here and there too kept him on his toes.
He heard Luna scowling at Aurora for the scene she caused.
"Scene! Are you serious Luna? Did you think I was just going to let the man touch me?" Aurora sneered hands on her hips lightly tapping her left foot on the wooden floor.
"No of course not." Luna sighed. "You could of just let Professor Snape handle him."
Ridiculous. As if she would let him take all the credit and give him the advantage. She had nothing against men but the reality of it all was that she could take care of herself. Which she performed. Aurora didn't need someone to step up. If anything she would reinforce herself to protect anyone. That's who she is and she would never change even if she is hurting herself in the process. "Oh god, I can handle anyone myself. I do not need a man nor women's help needed unless asked for." She preached. "I appreciate it though" gesturing her hands.
Luna covered her face with her hands. "Stubborn women." She mumbles loud enough for the two to hear.
"Yeah, she is!"
Aurora pulled her head back narrowing her eyes. "Shut it, Vincent!"
"How can that man hear from here?!" Luna jeered.
"Because he has big ears!" She responds receiving a gray wet rag to her head. "Ew! Anyways are you both ready? I have to get ready for my job in 2 days!"
"Indeed," Severus grunted.
They take their leave waiting 2 minutes in the cold while Aurora announces her goodbyes. Severus witnesses Aurora lavishly kissing Vincent on the cheek.
