Mistakes || Outer Banks

Part 2 - New girl

As she's slowly waking up in a place that she doesn't recognize, she hears the four friends talking about her. Scared, she decides that her best option is to pretend like she is still asleep, so she can hear what they say about her. Kie says "I don't think we need to bring her to a hospital, there was a lot of blood but I sewed up the deepest cuts. She should be fine." John B then says "alright so does anyone know who she is?" Everyone shrugs because they had never seen her before. Then he adds "no one? Not one of you have seen her on the island before?" They all say no. Pope then says "well what do we know about her?" Jj says "she's clearly was scared of whoever was inside the house, and she doesn't like cops since she doesn't want them involved." Pope nods and then asks "so do we bring her back there?" Then everyone including the mystery girl who is supposed to be sleeping on the couch says "No!" Pope then says sarcastically "well i guess that's a no then" Kie rolls her eyes at him and walks over to her somewhat quickly because she is surprised that the girl is even awake. She jumps off of the couch out of fear, and backs up all the way to the main entrance of the house clearly scared. John B then says in a soft tone "hey, you don't have to be scared. We really just want to help you." She replies with "yeah that's what they all say" while still backing up outside of the house. Jj excitedly yells "Guys she can speak! She knows English!" Startled, the girl runs in the opposite direction of the house while the rest of the group chase after her. She notices so she runs even faster. As Pope and Kie run out of energy, John B is starting to slow down, and there leaves only Jj. The tall blond yells "come on, i'm sorry! I really didn't mean to scare you!" Then mumbles to himself "damn your fast."

Her legs are starting to get tired and she's slowing down. Jj, tired, is keeping up but barely. Looking back at him to check if he's still after her, she doesn't notice the rock on the grass, trips, and falls. As Jj catches up to her, he says "oh shit are you okay?" She puts her hand up to protect and cover her face in fear that he's going to hurt her. "Geez, we must have run like a mile and a half! You've got one hell of an endurance!" he says while looking back at the rest of the group walking towards them way far back. Her eyes are closed and she doesn't say a word. He notices that she's covering up her face and says "why are you covering up your face? C'mon now, your not afraid of me now. Oh. Are you?" She then mumbles "please don't hit me." As a tear rolls down her face. He wipes the tear off her cheek and she flinches. "He used to hit you didn't he." She nods still in fear and he says "well, i won't." He sits down next to her and he hugs the poor girl because he feels so sorry for her. She suddenly feels so safe like nothing could ever happen to her and Jj is quite enjoying this hug himself.

As the others arrive, they apologize for scaring her and they bring her back to John B's house, the Château as they call it. By the time they all get back to the house, it's around 3pm. They ask her questions about her name, her age, her parents, but she knows nothing except for that she was abandoned as a baby, Garry took her in, used her as his personal slave and abused her for as long as she could remember. John B then says well you look like you might be a year younger than me, so I'm guessing that you're fifteen. Kie then says "is there anything you need from where you used to live?" She replied "I had no personal belongings except for one necklace but it doesn't have much importance to me. Used to live?" Pope then replies with "yeah, we are gonna take you in. I mean, if you want to." She then smiles big and they all hug her. Jj then says "alright you need a name.. hows Oc?" Everyone looks at him confused. He then specifies "Oc like Ocean. It's the two first letters. You would pronounce the letters separately and it sounds kinda cool." John B then says "actually, it kind of suits you." She replies "alright, well Oc it is."

After dinner, everyone decides to watch the sunset and Jj lights a cigarette. Oc says surprised "Jj, you smoke?" He replies "Don't you talk. I've known you all of four hours and you drink coffee every minute of your damn day". "Yeah but the difference is that mine is socially acceptable" she replies while smiling. Jj frowns, looks at her and says "you have a caffeine addiction, and you need help. Stop drinking that shit." Oc laughs and she starts to get cold while the sun is setting. She goes back inside to see if she can find the sweater she was wearing when she first arrived at the Château. While she's looking around, Jj is leaning on the doorway and says "hey baby, you looking for something?" She replies "um yeah I'm looking for the sweater i was wearing the day you guys brought me here." "Oh um it was cut up and covered in blood so we threw it out. Sorry. You cold?" "I-Um yeah" He walks into his room and brings out one of his hoodies for her to wear. She thanks him and puts it on while everyone is coming back inside. John B says "The sun is down. We should watch a movie." Everyone agrees and they end up watching a horror movie. Oc sitting next to Jj still wearing his hoodie, is unintentionally grabbing his bicep and burying her head in his shoulder. He then says "Oc you scared?" Then noticing that she's grabbing him says "yeah sorry i didn't even notice i was grabbing you." He smiles at her and puts his arm around her. John B see's that and doesn't look to happy about it.
