Mistakes || Outer Banks

Part 21 - Spencer

One hot Sunday morning, the Outer Banks were experiencing a complete heat wave even though it was the middle of November. Spencer and Oc had made plans to go surf. The rest of the pogues had all gone their own ways. 

He entered the Château when Oc was home alone still walking around in her underwear and a tee-shirt. He completely caught her off guard and she jumped. "Oh my god Spence! You scared me!" He didn't bother to look away out of respect and said "well someone isn't ready yet." She went to Jj's room which was basically her room and he followed her. "Spence! You can't come in! I need to change." She said while laughing. "C'mon, you don't care." "Yes I do and so does my boyfriend by the way." He laughs and says "Well where is he? I don't see him around." She laughed and tried pushing him out but he resisted and was too strong for her. He picked her up and threw her onto the bed. He crawled on top of her and started to kiss her neck. She was in shock and tried to push him off but he wouldn't budge. "Spencer stop. This isn't funny anymore." He didn't stop. "SPENCER STOP. Get off of me!"

At that moment, Jj just got home and heard her yelling. He came running into the room and pulled Spencer off of her. Jj punched the pervert in the face and just kept going at him. "Jj stop!" She yelled. She ran out of the room with a pair of shorts. Jj ran out after her and hugged her. This was the seccond time someone attempted to rape her. Spencer walked out of the house and was walking towards his car when Oc let go of Jj and ran towards him. She pushed him and said "WHAT THE HELL SPENCER." "What?" He replied. "What? What?! That's all you have to say? You tried to rape me." He just stares at her and says "Why don't you just go back over to your little dog over there" pointing to Jj. "FUCK YOU SPENCER! I TRUSTED YOU! I-i have nothing more I want to say to you..." She turns around and walks back into the Château. Spencer takes off and Jj goes after her.

Jj is so confused. She was going off at him but then she just stopped. It was like a switch that she just turned off. "Sunny, you okay?" "Yep" she says in a neutral tone. Jj was shocked with her response but especially the calm way she said it. He just looked at her. She looked completely fine. Not smiley, kinda dull but like nothing ever happened.

Over time, Oc started coming home later, she rarely attended school, and often disappeared. She became a completely different person. It was like she lost all her emotions. She seemed numb. She barely talked to the pogues or Jj. They were all so worried. Spencer completely broke her. Jj and the other pogues tried to talk to her but she would ignore them and look into open space. She never slept with Jj anymore. She spent almost every night on the beach. She was like a robot.

One evening, Oc was sitting on the porch when Jj approaches her and says "hey Sunny..." She doesn't reply but looks up at him as he continues "something changed in you... towards me, the pogues, everyone... since Spencer, your distant, cold. I don't know if it's something I did but I'll leave you alone from now on if that's what you want." She looks into his eyes and still doesn't say a word. "Is that what you want?" She just keeps looking at him emotionless. He has tears running down his face. "I love you" he says hoping that she will say it back. She doesn't. She gets up and walks away from him.

He starts yelling and throwing things on the porch. The other pogues rush out to see what's going on with him and he says "I TOLD HER I LOVED HER AND SHE WALKED AWAY! She walked away!" He is crying so hard in Kie's arms that he can barely see. John B runs after his sister and when he sees her, she is talking to Spencer. He wants to hear their conversation but he is too far away. He gets closer but makes sure that they can't see him. He hears Spencer say "here are two more bottles. Remember, take one every morning and every night."

John B runs as fast as he can back to the Château to search all of Oc's things hoping to find the other bottles she has. He needs to find out what it is that she is taking and what they do. Once he goes through everything, he can't even find a single bottle. He is in the washroom looking through her toiletry for the third time when his eyes wander to the trash can. He then spots a bottle. He grabs it and on the bottle it has Spencer's full name along with the name of a drug that causes emotional suppression...
