It's not fun being abducted by a demon... especially when Rose's only chance of freedom was in the hands of people that were not feeling so kindly towards her. She was being held in a circular cell with a rough floor. The only light came from thin holes in the cell that she assumed served as windows, though, she could see nothing descript through them. The only visitor she received was a man in a white suite with flies for cuff links . He called himself Asmodeus, even though the name meant nothing to Rose. The only thing that mattered to her was how she was going to get out.
Rose hated to admit it but Asmodeus scared her. He wasn't a Strigoi that she could knock out with carefully aimed punches. He had said he was a Greater Demon and even though the distinction between that and a regular demon wasn't well known to her she had a bad feeling about him. The shadowhunters had told her once that there were demons that couldn't be killed. She wondered if that was the distinction.
And with that feeling of fear was regret. Rose now had all the time in the world to beat herself up for leaving Court. At the time she had thought that giving Lissa some space to deal with her darkness herself had been the right choice. It was a hasty decision and she even considered turning back multiple times when she was on the road. But, she kept reminding herself that she was making a point to Lissa.
She didn't plan to go far, knowing that Lissa's apology was around the corner, and contented herself with heading to a bed and breakfast. Rose had liked the idea of being away from all the craziness of Court. She had wished she'd taken Dimitri with her, but he still had been tied to Lissa. Rose had expected a call from him. She knew he wouldn't like her running away.
A dark figure illuminated only by the first signs of dawn had blocked her path when Dimitri finally called. Thinking back on it now Rose wished they had gotten a real conversation, not the vague answers she had hurriedly given him as she tried to drive around the figure. The worst of it all was that she had hung up on him seconds before the figure slammed into her car... or maybe it was a good thing... If Rose had told him the truth about her escape he would have let her go until his shift was over, but the cut off made her danger more immediate thus her getting help sooner (if help was even possible at this point).
So yeah Rose had a lot to think about in the cell. But after a couple of hours after Asmodeus' initial meeting thinking about Lissa and Dimitri became less consuming. The last time she had been imprisoned she had her best friend's mind to keep her company and, boy, did she miss it now. Was Lissa okay? Was Dimitri looking for her? Was he okay? Hell, was she going to be okay?
Her swarming thoughts were finally extinguished when she heard the sound of a door opening beyond the cell bars. Rose had positioned herself in the corner of the cell so she could watch threats from all angles, though it was kind of difficult due to the dimness of the room. Rose stood up and pressed against the bars to see who had entered. After a few moments of squinting she could make out the thin frame of Asmodeus.
"Come to tell me more about your faulty plan?" Rose asked boldly. The demon was still scary as hell, but Rose knew he wouldn't harm her.
"Faulty plan?" Asmodeus laughed humorlessly. "Little dhampir, there is so much you do not understand I'm afraid..."
Rose cringed at the nickname, but held her ground. "The shadowhunters will not come after me! You're the one who doesn't understand!"
"You mean the compromise with Queen Vasilisa? Oh I know about that. That's where my inspiration to use you came from. You see I needed to find a friend of the Nephilim that wasn't well versed about me enough to be an effort to capture. You, my dear, were the perfect candidate."
"What is this, Miss Universe? That still doesn't mean they'll want to rescue me! I doubt anyone has even noticed my absence!"
"Oh they'll want to rescue you. Their very existence relies on saving others and from what I've observed they do not despise you as much as you may think."
