Jill never understood the complications of her sister's reign until she was reigning herself. Last night (well late morning for the Nephilim) Lissa's boyfriend, Christian, had contacted her inner circle to inform them of her imprisonment and that it was time to take action. To keep the Council to taking it in their own hands, she had been put in charge. She now represented the Dragomirs and was to attend the day's meetings and events to assure the Council of her family's stability. To the Council Lissa was on a much needed vacation and Jill was in training for the seat that she would eventually fill (Lissa usually would sit in her stead as queen and Dragomir representative).

Jill hated it. The heads treated her like a child and took none of her ideas in account. She shuddered to think how her sister was treated given that she was only a few years older than herself.

This particular council meeting was the last one of the day and it felt the longest. She was about to fall asleep in the chair when there was a knock on the door. It was Eddie.

"Excuse me, but Princess Jillian is needed," Eddie said nervously. Eddie had been appointed her guardian recently and it made Jill inwardly laugh at his awkwardness.

Many of the councilmen frowned, but allowed her to leave. Jill gratefully hurried out of the room.

"You're a lifesaver!" She exclaimed, hugging him fiercely. He stiffened and even more awkwardly pat her on the back.

When they broke apart Eddie led her down the grand hallway. "I wasn't lying when I said that you were needed. Adrian's back in town. He arrived at guest housing early last night. We need to talk to him before he goes back to Alicante."

"Then why is he here if not for us?"

Eddie chuckled. "You are not the only person in his life, you know." He opened the door for her.

At guest housing they found Adrian sitting flippantly on a chair in the lobby. Next to him was Sonya Karp, who was in a furious conversation with him.

"I can't, Adrian! It'll kill me!"

Adrian waved his hand at her. "Calm down. We'll be doing it together. Why do you think I need you in the first place?"

"I don't know?! Making me do it for you!"

"Please, Sonya. Rose is in trouble and this is the only way to help her. Plus Lissa is locked up where he is to attack. At least do it for the queen."

"What's wrong with Rose?" Jill interrupted.

Adrian jerked his gaze to her. "Jailbait? Have you been here this entire time?!" He stood up and hugged her.

"No, but I should ask you the same question!"

Adrian let go of her. "Yeahhh, sorry about that. I don't have a lot of time."
