A-CAPELLA
Missy and I had gone to the spa after school, as it was Friday, which was always our bestie spa night. We always told everyone we had to go somewhere else, though. Otherwise, we wouldn't have so much privacy.
"Two scar treatments and add in a little glow," Missy said, unembarrassed because this was the Heroics' spa.
And for some reason, the Heroics' spa had absolutely magical treatments. After three months of going there once every week, Missy's scars were seriously gone. And the lady said that if we continued having scar treatments every week, we wouldn't have scars in battle unless we really injured ourselves, but then, we could always come back and get them fixed. Best thing I've ever found out about.
"Coming right up, Miss Moreno and Miss Vox!"
"So you're never gonna tell him?" I asked her.
This secret was probably the dirtiest Missy had. And I knew. Because Missy told me everything. And being the good friend I am, that secret chamber is always locked. Double locked. Triple locked.
"No. If Wildcard found out, he'd be pissed. He'd hate me forever."
"It's not that bad! It was when you were fricking 12!"
"And Ben seems to still remember it."
"You lied to Wildcard. You can't lie in a relationship!"
"I can lie if it keeps the relationship together!"
"But you can't keep it up! And the longer it stays, the more powerful it can be."
"You promised me you would never tell him," Missy said as they poured the special herbs into the mud bath.
"I know... but I think you should tell him. He deserves to know."
"I know he does. But I'm not ready. I'm not even sure I'll ever be ready--"
"And you have to tell him either way."
___
We went through the jelly bath, relieved we weren't surrounded by mud.
"But still," I sighed, "He's gonna find out. And he's not gonna be happy."
"Nah. He'll be fine. And I'm not telling him."
"Just gonna say... you should."
"I will when I'm ready."
"When is that?"
She was silent.
___
We moved onto full massages and masks.
"But girl!"
"I know, I know. He thinks I'm flawless. It's actually kinda annoying," Missy said, rolling her eyes.
"Well, you should tell him."
"Will you stop saying that? Now tell me. Who do you think is cute?"
It's true. I was beyond liking Wildcard. Even if he was cute, if I ever thought of kissing him, I felt like throwing up because Wildcard was like my brother. And kissing your brother is GROSS. I don't know how back in the day the royal family managed to do it. I would rather go single forever.
"Wheels," I admitted, "I dunno... his tech talk is... nice."
"Aw..." Missy grinned, "Someone needs a ship name!"
"Stop!"
"Whacapella!"
"What?!"
"Whacapella!"
"Okay, that sounds like 'whack a fella'!"
"No! I'm not gonna whack a fella or anything! It's just cute! Would you rather have Aheels? AHHH! EELS!"
"Ugh," I groaned.
"It's what you did during the beginning of Mildcard. And that's what I'm going to you."
"UGHHH!"
___
"...and you should totally go out on a date--" Missy was rambling on and on and on.
"Listen, Missy. It's great that you're shipping us and everything... but I don't know if he likes me back. At least I knew Wildcard loved you from the start."
"How'd you know?"
"He made it obvious because... you know... stuff. But Wheels is a genius! He could wipe my memories if he needed to."
"Oh, please! He's not gonna--"
"Five years ago he constructed a memory wiper."
"Oh my gosh..."
"Yeah. Luckily, Miss Granada had it destroyed for the sole purpose of it being super dangerous, but he still has the blueprints."
"Well lucky you," Missy smirked, "You've got a genius that could make you a 'A-Capella gets ready in five minutes' machine."
"I don't--"
"Hmm?"
"Fine, I take like two hours to get ready each day! But I try and change up my look! It's not my fault it's time consuming!"
"That's why I stick to black!" Missy exclaimed, "So that won't happen to me!"
"It's hard to believe your not emo," I muttered.
"I am never going to be an emo girl! I still wear pink lip gloss," Missy pursed her lips.
"Yeah, yeah," I rolled my eyes.
Suddenly, the boys walked in and I froze.
"Hey!" Facemaker stared at us underneath the towels getting massaged.
"What are you doing here?!" I exclaimed, staring at Wheels. This was so embarrassing."
"We're going to the spa! What about you?! You're supposed to be at your annual golf machine contest!"
"What golf machine contest?" Missy whispered to me.
"I made it up!"
"There's no golf machine contest, is there?" Noodles asked.
"No. But why are you here?! You're supposed to be at your national noodle-eating competition! And why are you in the ladies' spa?!"
"Oh! Gentlemen! Did you walk in the wrong place again?"
They all looked at the floor.
"So you guys lied, too," I gave them all looks.
"You started it! You lied first! We started coming here one year ago!"
"And we started coming here one year ago, as well!" I exclaimed.
"So how--"
"GO TO THE MEN'S ROOM THIS IS A LADIES' SPA!"
They ran.
