Mary heard the echo of the security guard's voice behind her as she sprinted through the long, cramped corridors. She followed the luminous signs telling her which way gates 20-30 were.
Mary counted the gates she saw in the distance, each one bringing a spark of hope to her spirit.
"20..."
"21... 22..."
—"23!" Exclaimed Mary, almost out of breath by now.
But as she got closer to it she realised someone was already closing the entrance with barrier posts. Mary kept running towards it, not quite knowing what to do yet, but knowing this wasn't going to stop her.
—"The gate's closed!" Anounced the man at the gate's entrance, noticing Mary racing towards it.
But before he could say anything else, she leaped over the barrier belt in one miraculous lunge, making the man and security guards drop their jaws in shock.
Yet Mary didn't even look back, she got on the plane —just before its doors closed— and was ready for the journey.
