A slightly frightened cabin crew looked at Mary, who realised she could be in trouble for not buying a ticket, so went looking for a seat in the plane before the cabin crew thought to check for it.
Mary spotted an empty seat next to a middle aged man in the fourth row.
—"Does anyone sit here?"
—"No." said the man, taking his backpack off the seat.
Mary warily sat down next to the man, not feeling comfortable next to the stranger. She wasn't one to try to converse unnecessarily, so rarely ever met new people. Mary really only had one close friend, Snow. She opened her suitcase and reached for her phone, it had been a while since she had texted them.
Several unanswered texts from Snow were pending in in chat."Hey, how have you been? I guess you're probably heard about COBED by now..."
*yesterday*
"Mary, I'm worried about you, we haven't spoken in a while"
*today*
"Hey Mary, I'm outside your house right now, you're not here. Where are you?"
Mary felt bad now. She had been so caught up in the recent pandemic she had forgotten her best friend, who was probably worried sick about her by now. Mary texted back:
"Hey. Sorry I never answered, I've been pretty busy lately"
Mary sent the message and almost instantly Snow was online.
"Oh my god! You're alive! I swear I am going to kill you tho if you do this again..."
Joked Snow. Their humour always seemed to shine through the darkest of times.
"Where are you? We should meet up."
Mary looked outside the tiny plane window into the barren, boundless bed of clouds. They stretched over the horizon like stitched pieces of white canvas.
She had no idea where she was.
I haven't uploaded in aaaaaaages! I've been a bit busy lately and lacked inspiration, but I promise this won't be one of the many unfinished stories on Wattpad. Anyway, thanks for reading, and vote if you want to. 🐝🌱🌸🌿🍄
