As she researched the virus, she realised that the situation was much worse than she thought. Mary was so focused on reading about how much coffee was being lost to the disease, that she got startled when her ringtone (Coffee — Beabadoobee) went off.
Mary put her laptop down on the coffee table next to her, and answered her phone, putting it to her ear.
—"Hello?"Mary answered, sounding slightly oblivious and with her mind still on the research she had been doing.
—"Hi, is this Mary?" Said the recognisable voice on the phone "Are you not coming in to work today?"
Mary suddenly remembered—work. She had been so caught up on the failure of her usual coffee delivery that she had completely forgotten about work!
—"u-um" Mary tried to think of a quick excuse "I-I am not feeling so good today..."
—"Oh, yes, of course, that's completely fine then. Must be all that coffee you drink! Take however many days you need, just call us when you're ready to come back." Said Mary's boss
—"O-Ok bye then." Mary said, holding her breath. She felt bad lying. Her boss, Edna, was really nice, and she actually quite liked her work, and rarely ever missed it. But her coffee was the thing Mary treasured most in her life, and she would do anything to save it.
Sorry the charpters are always really short, it's just easier for me. 😊
