Even after rest hour, a pure hour dedicated to naps, I was exhausted. Not to mention I had many more days just as tiring as this one ahead of me.
Towards the end of the hour, the girls became restless, that couldn't wait for tonight's activity. All of their anticipation waiting for the announcement saying it was time to go meet in the main field.
When the announcement rang though the air of the cabin, I cover my face with my pillow, groaning a little. The girls began to put on their shoes and chatting happily.
"Come on Andy! It's time to get up." I hear the familiar irish accent sit on the bunk next to me.
"I'm too tired." I moan, hiding more into my pillow.
"Fine, I didn't want it to come to this, but.." He starts to tickle me. I burst into a fit if giggles, squirming around in the bed. I try to catch my breath as I beg him to stop.
"I'm up!" I shout through my laughs. Jumping up and running into the bathroom to hide for him. I quickly attempt to brush my frizzy hair, which fails and I end up with more of a mess than I started with. I slip on my tennis shoes and jog out to meet our cluster on the front lawn.
"You missed it!" Niall complains as I stand next to him.
"Missed what?" I look to him as Sidney talks to the campers about the late night activity.
"We get the night off, along with cabins ten and eleven." He wiggles his eyes brows excitingly.
"Thank god, I'm so tired." I slump in my stance, feeling relieved I can continue my nap.
"Oh you're not going back to the cabin! What a waste of time. You're coming with me." He announces.
"I can do whatever I want." I fold my arms and pout my lower lip out. I must look like a child.
"You're coming with me, end of story." He closes the conversation and turns to listen to the last part of the nightly activities. My mouth hangs agape, astonished at his attitude.
"You can't make me do anything I-" I start, but he cuts me off by pressing his index finger to my chapped lips.
"Shh- Sidney is talking." A smirk plastered across the beach blond's face.
"Not anymore." I state, throwing my hand in Sidney's direction.
"Good."
"What?" I mutter out before Niall grabs me by my wrist and runs in the opposite direction of the camp. He darts into the forest, not on any of the gravel paths.
My breathing becomes louder and small bead of oily sweat cluster on my forehead as we run faster.
"Stop!" I shout, finally having enough. We come to a halt and I bend over, pressing my hands to my knees, trying to even my breathing pattern. "Where are we even going?" I ask, knowing there was no turning back now, especially sense I had never been this way before.
"Somewhere."
"Well no shit, Einstein!" I say in a duh tone.
"Hey, watch your language." He points to me and I roll my eyes. That's when he grips my wrist again, and drags me farther away from the camp site.
I look up as we run, noticing the fading sky. The blues and purples mixing with the pinks and orange over the canopy. When I look back to Niall, we reach a rock edge.
"Here we are." He smiles, taking in the incredibly beautiful view and sitting down on the edge, letting his feet hang over.
"You brought me to a cliff?"
"Yes." He doesn't look away from the sky, keeping a sharp eye on the disappearing sun. I don't bother asking anything else and just join him where he sits.
It's peaceful for the few moments we sit. Niall hums a song I do not know, but it is soothing. My finger draws small pictures in the dirty. I sigh, breathing it all in enjoyably.
"This is for you." Niall picks a small yellow daisy a few inches away and helps place it in my hair. I blush at his small gift. "Looks good." He gives me a thumbs up and a smile.
"I thought I'd find you guys back here." I hear the familiar British accent behind us. Both Niall and I whip are heads up to see Zayn. Although Zayn was nice and all, I was disappointed he ruined the moment I was having with Niall. Niall on the other hand looked completely pissed.
"What are you doing here?" The blond splits.
"Came to hang out with you guys!" Zayn attempts to sound enthusiastic. Niall scowls at him angrily.
"Pardon me, I think this is my cue to leave." I bush past the two bickering boys and wander into the woods alone, which was a huge mistake. I barely knew the camp area, let alone the forest that paired with it.
I soon found myself lost and the sky was growing darker by the second. I knew I had to be back in minutes to get my girls and go to bed. I had already missed dinner. I rounder if anyone noticed I was gone, I was an invisible person. I could wear a disco ball and no one would notice me.
Panicking frantically, I break into a jog, hoping to find a way out faster only to be lost even more.
"Crud." I groan, seeing the same tree twice. A tear slipped from my eye, as I became more worried.
"Andy!" I hear Niall shout out to me. I could see his white T-shirt in the dark. I run to him, grabbing his arm with my left hand.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have run off." I apologize, wiping my tear away.
"It's fine, let's get out of here." He brushes it off.
"Do you know the way out?"
"Yeah, I've been tracking my steps in my head." He taps his hand to his temple.
We being to run, knowing there is no time to chat, because we are seriously late. When we reach the camp, many of the cabins lights are out and all the campers are back in their cabins, but ours.
"Sidney's gonna be furious." I cry out as we job to the chow hall. Entering, I can see Sidney tapping her foot and checking her watch. The kids say chatting at the table and munching on plain sugar cookies.
"I'm so sorry Sidney, I got lost-" I start to explain, pulling back my hair behind my shoulders.
"It was my fault Sid. I brought her out to Cliff's Edge and we took a wrong turn." Niall takes the blame, and I feel horrible, because it was truly my fault.
"I'll let you go, but you're under strict eyes." She narrows her own and leaves to go to her own cabin for the nights. I turn to the kids who are finishing cookies.
"Want one?" Piper holds up two of the sugar coated good to us.
"Yes, thank you." I smile at her, taking a bite of it and leading the cabins with Niall back to bed.
"Goodnight!" I yell to the girls, flicking the lights off and getting into my own bunk.
"Did Niall give you that flower?" I hear Zoe shout from her bunk in question.
"Why yes, he did." I grin happily to myself, taking out the flower and setting it on the window sill where I first saw Niall from just two days ago.
