Chapter 23 Tacenda

As Veya wakes up in the morning and prepares herself for school, she keeps seeing the 1000 bill on top of the piano, untouched. she sees it every day that reminded her of the time Gab asked her on a date, her gut feeling she doesn't want to but thinking it might not really be a bad idea.  Every day she would see the bill slowly catching dust, making the piano a bit dirty. The bill was just there laying flat, reminding her every day. To tell Gab her sweet yes to go out and hang. one morning she saw the bill once again, she completely ignored it, got coffee, and drank it aggressively. She grabbed the bill went up to her room and placed it in her wallet and locked it up in her closet. 

she hid it there knowing she won't touch her wallet because she was saving money. In short, it's like she stole money but no, she is keeping it away from her, "safekeeping". Her father didn't mind her getting the bill on top of the old piano, but instead, he smiled at her and left the house saying, "I like Gab, he is nice and sweet of him to get you out again" 

Veya's Pov 

Have I told you about my first one-on-one date? Yeah, it was hilarious and I didn't want to go back again, In fact, I thought of it as a meet-up, not a date. 

but my actual first date was with Jake, he got this blanky and we were in the field watching a movie for, he brought snacks and drinks, it seems bomb, but at that time we have broken up and we were talking like friends. I know shocker. 

so we broke up in November, right? He contacted me a 1-2nd week of January, trying to persuade me to forgive him and him saying he has forgiven me. well, those days I was still mad, even my friends in church were made. we were buying groceries for a community that got hit very badly by a storm. 

and while in every aisle we went I got this aggressive look where, whenever I count and pick out the food to be sorted, I got a grudge I was holding.  Thank God for understanding friends, well yah come to a point I let the grudge out and said okay let's be friends and we did, we honestly talked after that, he became friendly and acted all weird, but I didn't mind. 

so the date, yeah that was valentines day, there was this event on our campus a movie night on the field, so he said we would go as friends. a first date. like, go with him as a friend date.  

then last minute that day he canceled it, ah yeah, he said I told someone about it. Which then again, I didn't understand. I didn't tell anybody. I really didn't I thought being friends would at least heal my heart slowly again, him healing it, for he broke it too.

End of Veya's Pov

*ding-dong* 

Veya went down and out of the door, and she was so shocked with who was in front of the house. 

5'4, brown eyes, rubber shoes, veiny hands, broad shoulders, and a stance of a football player, It was Cairo.  In Veya's eyes, it was Cairo.. Cairo Cairo. The boy who made her smile till it reached her own eyes, made her heart jump a mile for one second. the feeling in her stomach, feels like only he can be the remedy. her chain of thought when her mind breaks loose. Her Draco to her Hermione, her Mustard to her lily. it's like she's saying Vows...but she knows she isn't. 

Veya ran to the gate and hugged Cairo tight, her eyes were slowly tearing up. and Cairo holding her finally for the very first time. Cairo kissed the top of her head, while Veya's arms were still around him, She was so happy... Cairo was holding a paper bag and she wondering what was in it? 

Veya brought him in, made him greet their house helper and grandmother. 

Cairo looking at Veya, while she was putting stuff away because of the unexpected visit from Cairo.

After  Veya fixed all of the stuff cluttered around the house,  she sat down with Cairo looking at her, still deciding whether she tells about her and Gab. the stuff they been through and memories created.

Veya smiles look into his eyes, breathes in and out... Cairo...
