* alarm clock*
"stupid alarm clock" Veya sighed
Veya stayed in bed for 5 mins and scrolled through her social media checking what's up on the school pages and news on what's tea and what's dramatic these days. scrolls through TikTok for a quick minute and check her ex's profile on Twitter, checking what's new about him. "still shitty" she said to herself. tweet's out the thought. and got likes in an instant.
she got up, made her bed, and got ready for school. she gets in the shower and receives a call in the middle of her screaming from the cold water. A call from Cairo early morning.
*In-voice-call*
"Hi good morning!" she exclaimed
"why is it echoey," he asked
"I'm in the CR, getting ready for school...washing my face (what she was really doing: taking a bath)" she replies
"oh, ah sorry," he said
" I can put on mute then stay on the call" She insisted
" Okay...shit I want to be with you," he answered
"in here?" she asked
"yeah....hihi" he answered she just laughed and muted her mic and continued to bath quickly in cold water, which she hates.
she dries up, gets changed brushed her teeth.
"hey" she exclaimed
"Yeah?" he replied
"nothing just checking on you" she answered
"get changed already 15 minutes left till class," she said
"opo" he answered in a sleepy voice.
"Okay, wait okie I'm just going to get my stuff ready" she replied.
As Veya went to get her stuff, the call already ended, and Cairo texting that he has to go to the bathroom too. Veya laughed and went into the zoom rooms and waited for her classes to start.
*GameCord call*
Mira is calling-
hey girl! she exclaimed
Hey you! what's up? she replied to her
"so what is the update on Mr. De Los Santos?" she asked her
"Mmmmm, we talk on messenger now, no longer in IG" she replies.
"have you and Cairo sorted things out??" she asked her.
"Yeah we did, we talked it out, surprisingly he is open to what happens next. ya know:)" but I am afraid that he might move away or we won't talk like before ya know.. I mean he IDK maybe he might fall out of it." her reply.
"Okay listen, you told me once that you can't predict the future, so don't predict it, negatively too, cause you might not really like the outcome if ever that'll happen." she talked backed to Veya.
"But yeah, I told him I'm afraid, but I don't want to stop talking to him." and ya know I too him that I really do like him a lot and we're both willing to wait." and yeah end of the conversation. Veya told so.
"look at the bright side! at least he will wait for you!" Mira told her.
Veya nods
5 hours later she and her father left the house to go to a cafe to get some coffee. while getting Coffee, her father asked her about school and friends, she replied quickly that she doesn't have friends in school. her father insisted and said "what about that young girl you're talking to?" he asked. "oh her, ah yes she is a really good friend of mine, just her." she replied. later on, her father surprises her, "what about that boy? Marco? how is he?" he asked innocently. In Veya's head, she didn't know what to say... her head is full of thoughts. But Marco is just a friend, her best friend in fact that is now completely gone. "ah he transferred, we don't talk anymore, maybe he is too busy." she answered. "oh, well say hi for me if he gets in touch." he replied. "okay, yeah sure dad" she replied.
"what about this guy?, uh I overheard you girls talking... named Cairo? who's he? her father asked. "you spied?" she asks her dad. "no hon, I overheard you guys it was right about to ask you to come with me for coffee, but couldn't interrupt your conversation so I heard a name." he answers. "but now tell me, now that I know...no secrets remember?" her father insisted.
"uh yeah, he is this guy in school, soccer player, he's nice and sweet, cute, funny. He's Moreno dad and uh he is very family-oriented, he is good with kids and he's an older brother to 2 or 3 siblings. I am not a stalker... I just know." she answered quickly.
"Does he shave?" her father asks.
"DAD!" she said loudly.
"I just want to know haha, well heard now the name, what's the length?" Her dad asks.
" John Nathan Cairo De Los Santos, and he's grade 8," she replied.
"Mmm I see, there is nothing wrong... well up to you now, but if he is well to you, he must be well to me, well introduce him if something happens, but no foul play...(walks) okay I'm gonna check H&M clothes you coming?" her dad says.
"no I'm just going to read here thanks, " she replied.
"okay be nice," her father said
as Veya sat in the cafe, continued reading her book. she couldn't stop thinking of the possibilities of what will happen to both of them, what will change. It's the same feeling felt over and over again.
her dad comes back to pick up veya from the cafe with a bag filled with new polo shirts and left the mall, as they head back home Cairo video called Veya;
"oh you called," she asked him
"I missed you eh" he answered in a sleepy voice
"you're sleepy? why did you call if your sleepy?" she asked him
"mmhmm, not really" he answered.
"you sleep I will not end the call, I'm just going to read a book," she said
"mmm okay..." he replied
Veya catches Cairo smiling at her,
"Why?" she asks
"nothing, your pretty," he replied
"shit why are so pretty," he says
"Why are you so cute?" she replies
"ahahahaha" he laughs
"kinikilig ako" he says
"Why?" she asks
"your neck, for me necks are the best part of a girl" he answers
"eh?" she blushes and covers her neck with her hair and smiles, which reached her eyes, leaving her hair to be messy and all crumped up.
"fix your hair it's messy," he says
"you just want to...- " she says
"no ah ahhaahhahaha" he answers
she stares at Cairo and Cairo blushing on the other side of the screen.
"don't look at me that way, I- I'm blushing (kinikilig ako)" he says
"fix your hair nalang" Cairo says
veya fixes her hair and showed her neck that left Cairo smiling and them both smiling like there was a definite spark between them. as time stood still and made them both come together and create memories worth a lifetime.
