Veya wakes up and checks her phone. As she checks her phone her dad comes in with breakfast with her medicine.

"you're up and early on your phone?" Her dad teased her.

"Gab said you were soaked in the rain and soaked in tears" her father added.

he sat beside her and handed a pill and a glass of water. " take it, it vitamin... your mom's gonna kill me if you get sick."

"thank you" she replies.

"what happened? Gab didn't want to leave you last night, yet I sent him home coz he was soaking wet too," her father asked.

"it's Cairo... he saw me and Gab talking. I was telling him how much I liked Gab but I don't see it yet, that we will be together... you know I was waiting for Cairo, But he was MIA the whole time and Gab! he was there. He knows every little detail about me by just being there" Veya explained.

"so when I saw him, I ran out while it was raining just to talk to him, yet I lost him" she added.

" Dad, I don't know what to do..." she said in a very sad voice placing her head on his shoulders.

"you can start by asking him, well talking to him is better but asking him if he does see a future with you in it." her dad answers. Veya raises her head and looks at her dad and listens.

"because right now... Gab is right there and he can definitely see you are going to be part of his life and still will be. And as for Cairo, you will just be a part of his life. Those two are different yet the same, Cairo's history Gab's in the present. you mentioned he was afraid to love as you did before but when Gab came? He opened your heart let you love again and you poured it out to Cairo and not him. But if you do feel like that Cairo deserves to hear how you feel then tell him, what he deserves to hear it before he decides that you'll just be a piece of history." her father added.

"you really think?" Veya asked. Her father stands up

"eat your fruits okay?" her father said and left Veya's room.

Veya takes a spoon of mangoes and picks up her phone, opens Cairo's chat, and types.

"5:30 pm sunset , meet me @ the dock"

Hours passed and an hour before sunset, Veya got ready and got to the dock with 30 minutes to spare.

she waited for Cairo, wearing a white tied sleeve dress and white shoes on. Holding her phone and a letter she wrote for Cairo to read.

After 30 minutes, she hears footsteps coming towards her.

she sees Cairo. Walking towards her. Wearing a white shirt and jean jacket with jeans on and white shoes on.

Cairo looks at her and looks back down.

Cairo looks at the sun and looks at him, yet his head was facing down on her shoes.

"I never thought you'd come," she says in a sad soft voice, where only the two can hear.

"you told me to," Cairo replied

Veya gets his hand and looks at him.

"I hope you know how much I smiled every time you send me those cheesy lines," Veya said.

"I think that was you" Cairo joked they both laughed awkwardly and soft.

"I can't put into words, but- I, When I put my arms around you and you lean your head on my chest, my heart keeps telling me to say it, tell her. Yet there is something in me that just can't" Cairo said

"it's okay," Veya encouraged him. she looks out to the ocean as the sun was about to set.

"I just want to say that you were the best-unplanned event that happened in my life," Veya said and left the letter on the hand of Cairo " close your eyes when I walk?" Veya added. Cairo nodded and closed his eyes and Veya walks away.

Cairo slowly opens his eyes and looks for her, yet only he found a letter in his hand.

Hey you,

I know...mixed feelings? I get it. you know you never really truly love someone if never learned to tell them the truth. and see for yourself that there was someone else waiting and wanting you at the same time.

Cairo, you brought 6 months of joy to me, smiling behind the screen. Laughing in the middle of the night and the kiss like high schoolers do. That was sweet of you to still show me that you cared. I couldn't tell you that I was moving out now and going to Madrina Colleges. I was afraid that you might say what they say and it scared me.

it's true when I said you were a great deal and happy pill, but not all medicines last for 6 months, maybe just for a day? or an hour? but you made it last even though I was the one dissolving into pieces not knowing that I was the one fading.

but you know ever since the day I took the risk, telling you how much I felt. You gave me more reasons to take more risks and to be one owning the moments. you know Cairo...I wish we had a chance to pick the right time and spend it as much as we love taking risks. but maybe the risk we took wasn't in the right timeline, hopefully, we can get to fix that.

I will love you as it is, but not now as we were.

As Cairo read the letter he smiled, teary-eyed looked at the sunset and walked away with the letter and his hand in his pocket.

Serein; n | the fine, clear sky at sunset or in the early hours before night time.
