With your memory alive and your ghost by my side;
I know I can take the world's worst in my stride.
A one way ticket out of this one horse town;
Something to finally turn this life around.A one way ticket out of this one horse town;
Leaving like a flight delayed;
Finally reached a brand new beginning.
I look over my shoulder on this train platform;
My friends, my family; bidding me farewell for now,
I'll be back for the birthdays and the funerals;
From the coffins to the carnivals.
A one way ticket out of this one horse town;
I can't stay here when you're not around.My heart aches at the amount of loss it's had to endure;
I don't think I can take much more.
I thought it was a joke when they told me what had happened;
Life has a sick sense of humor; a terrible twist of fate; I can still hear it laughing.
But I don't want to find the pain in this peril;
I want to turn this hell into heaven.
And the only way I can do that is through change;
Through the subversion, the reversal of an age.With wanderlust in my veins and a rucksack weighing me down;
Here I go, into the unknown, goodbye to the here and now.
As I cross the county lines like I'll never come back;
I can feel ghostly hands nudging me to go.
I look over my shoulder and I see you;
Along with the versions of myself I killed off long ago.
You seem calm, you seem present, like you always do;
Well, always did.
And I take your sighting as a wonderful hint.
I am changing, I am growing, I am different.With your memory alive and your ghost by my side;
I know I can take the world's worst in my stride.
A one way ticket out of this one horse town;
Something to finally turn this life around.
