Clearly, the oh-so-great God wants Mari to suffer because Mari continues to be sick for the rest of the week, and into the weekend.

Mom dotes on her the entire weekend, bringing her tea and warm milk. Both Alya and Luka drop by with chicken soup and flowers, along with several dozen get well soon cards from our entire class.

'How's Mari doing?' Adrien asks me over the phone the following night. 'I heard she was sick.'

'She's doing alright,' I say, sitting down on my bed. 'She's gotten a lot better since last week, but the Doctor still has her on bed rest.'

'I'm glad she's okay,' Adrien sighs, his voice slightly muffled. 'Cat-I mean can you come over soon? I miss youuu.'

'I miss you too, Kitty,' I smile. 'How's tonight? I think Mom and Alya can handle taking care of Mari for just one night.'

'See you soon,' Adrien says through the phone.

...

'I'm going to Alya's, Mom,' I say, waving as I leave the house. 'I'll see you tomorrow morning.'

'Okay, sweetie,' Mom waves goodbye.

....

'God, I missed you,' Adrien sighs, leaning back onto his bed.

I laugh. 'It's only been like a few days.'

'A few years you mean.' He says dramatically. 'I haven't been able to get out of the house, cause Father's making me stay and do extra homework.'

'That sucks,' I say, climbing into bed next to him. 'Can't you just sneak out the window?'

'I could-but Nathalie's been keeping a lot closer eye on me since I snuck out last time.' Adrien groans, his hair flopping all over.

I lean down, kissing him lightly on the cheek before lying across his chest.

'Goodnight Adrien,' I say.

'Night, darling.'

....

The following afternoon-

'Akuma alert,' I gasp, holding up my phone. The purple light flashes, showing that a Parisian has been Akumatized.

Marinette sighs, rolling over in bed. The cool cloth that was resting on her forehead falls off onto the floor, and I pick it up.

'Tikki-'

'No wait,' Tikki squeaks. 'Marinette you're not well,' She says. 'You can't go out and fight evil in this state.'

'You're right, Tikki,' Marinette blinks, falling back in bed. 'I really can't. If only there were someone else-'

'No.' I say. 'No way am I going out there.'

'You have to be Ladybug,' Marinette insists. 'For Paris.'

'No way.' I shake my head furiously. 'I'd probably fail.'

'Come on, Y/n,' Tikki pleads softly, tugging on my sweater. 'You're our last hope.'

'Please,' Marinette begs. 'Take the earrings.' She holds them out to me.

I sigh. 'Fine.'

'Just make sure no one knows that you're not me. That would cause major confusion,' Marinette says.

'What? Why?'

'They'd wonder why you look so much like me,' Marinette replies, like it's obvious.

'And then they'd figure out that we're twins,' I nod, understanding. 'Got it. But what if I make a mistake? I can't even ask Cat Noir for help.'

'You can do it,' Marinette says. 'I was nervous the first time too, but just believe in yourself.'

I take a deep breath. 'Tikki, spots on!'
