(Forest, ???'s POV-? years old)

I awoke upon a beach. It's possible that I washed ashore here after falling asleep on that plank of wood. I clutched my soaked dark blue hoodie, taking it off and carrying it as it dries as I blindly stumbled into a forest. Taking in my surroundings as I navigated my way through, a bird got snatched up in some sort of trap, tangled and confined in a net of sorts. I walked past the struggling bird and further towards the sight of lights, electricity all the way out here? I wonder if they're willing to help me?

Stepping over broken sticks and climbing over fallen timber, I slipped on an old casing of something. Shrugging it off as discarded garbage I continued on, getting closer to the occupied home, I approached the windowsill and peered inside, a lone man with a potato sack over his head walked out of a door and through another rotting food in a pot cursed my first sight and making me queasy, my stomach turning at the sight, I quickly turned around and hopped down from the windowsill. Deciding against asking for their help. After all, they could be as worse as the rest of the adults.

I aimlessly wandered through the swampy forest, avoiding the nets the bird had gotten caught in, I noticed a shiny teeth like trap object hidden in the grass. Quickly thinking as I grabbed an acorn and threw it on top of the trap, it closed with a vicious snap! Breaking the acorn I threw on it. Another device snapped! It jumped up into the air and landed on another one as it caused a domino effect, triggering several more in a firecracker like noise. Those things must be really dangerous, I should avoid stepping on any of them for sure. I turned around as I heard a door slam open, and what sounded like a gun being loaded. I quickly ran away from the sound of the noises as I had a gut feeling that's where he'd be heading. I waited for him to pass after meeting him halfway to circle back into his house.

As he went the other way, I made my way into the now unlocked and opened house. The pot on the table bubbled, even though it's probably been rotting a long time by now with what I hope seems to be two cooked chickens and not human meat rotting on the table next to it. I walked past it, the smell making me cringe as it snuck it's way into my nose. The refrigerator emitting an even worse smell, I walked through the cracked door into a hallway.

Noticing a set of stairs leading up, thinking fast as the man with the gun could be heading back at any moment. I climbed each step as if the man were behind me, leaving me out of breath after climbing so many stairs. I noticed a hanging pulley sort of thing. I jumped to reach it but I wasn't heavy enough to successfully pull it down. Disappointed as I released my grip and fell back to the ground. I opened a door to a bedroom, mold chewed at the blankets and a rotting wardrobe laid empty, not having been used for so long as termites chewed at its wood. I heard a downstairs door slam shut, and footsteps coming up the stairs.

I need a place to hide! And Fast! I used my small size to my advantage, hiding behind the dressers' legs as the door opened more. A pair of boots walked past as the man in the sack placed his gun on a mantle overhanging the bed, the door shutting behind him with a slam. I watched as he slipped off his muddied boots, before placing his gloves and what seemed like endless shells onto a table near the bed. He slipped into bed, mumbling something unrecognizable and under the mold ridden blankets.

I waited for a few minutes for him to fall asleep, before finally coming out of hiding. I looked for an exit that wasn't the window or door next to him, no luck. And the window is way too close to him to give me any confidence to leave that way. I'm going to have to take a calculated risk and leave from the door.

I moved from behind the dressers' leg, sneaking close to the door. Jumping and catching the knob as it twisted quickly, throwing me to the ground and creating a large thud from the impact, the noise I had created along with the squeaking from the now open door had awoken the man. He angrily got up, slipping on his boots and looking directly at me.

His stare skewered my motions, as if he'd been looking directly into my eyes. I quickly ran through the door and down the hall, a cracked door leading downstairs was my only option. I slipped through but the door quickly opened, I tripped and fell down a step or two before a boot slammed behind me and I was scooped up by one big, gloved hand.

He held me as he brought me down the steps, approaching a door. I could hear a soothing song from a music box before they opened it and threw me inside. I could hear someone quickly shuffle away. The fall caused me to slam my shoulder into the ground roughly. I heard him say something before he closed the door, another child hiding under the table she looked at me, her eyes slowly dragging over me. As if analyzing me, no. As if she was stalking prey, as if I were still in sight of the guests on the Maw...

Her stomach growled from under the table, her hand moving to the source of the sound. The darkness covering her face and hair, she had a plain shirt oversized shirt on, but what stood out to me was her razor sharp teeth. Those aren't teeth of any other child I've ever seen before, I crawled back, away from her. I couldn't see her eyes but her aura emitted a danger about her, like a warning creeping over my soul. A warning to stay away from her, or else... Her stomach growled again. This time she came out from under the table. I hazardously retreated back further, although this may be another kid, I don't think this 'kid' is as she seems. Like she's not all there mentally. Her stomach growled once again, her face hidden but her smile as bright as day.

A devious smile, I stood up and took a step back. She took another step forward, I took another step back. I could see her mouth the words: 'Hungry' just before pouncing towards me, her sudden lunge taking me by surprise. I quickly scrambled away from the sudden threat in the room, climbing onto the table in an attempt to escape the demon that wanted my blood. The child started seeming more and more less like the truth. What's attempting to do who knows what to me isn't a child. Not anymore...

She was much faster in recovering after her pounce than I had expected. She scrambled onto the table with ease, grabbing onto my foot, dragging me down to her level. A menacing grin on the face of the girl as she latched onto my arm, biting and chewing away my flesh, my hoodie sleeves had been around my waist, exposing the bare flesh of my arms and allowing the full pain through. Granted it would've been painful regardless but the full realization that I was being eaten alive is way too much for my heart to handle, I panicked, scratching and clawing at her face as she'd gone for another bite, I kicked her away and she fell off the table, quick thinking had me climb onto the table, successfully mind you. My arm gushed with blood, the exposed veins bleeding hot blood as I felt ill, feeling as if I'm going to faint at any second, I looked away from my arms. The pain however, will not go away so easily...

I desperately searched for an exit, nothing. The meager amount of light reflecting off my blood, the hand of death appearing once more on the table's ledge. I backed away in fear, feeling like prey once more... She climbed onto the table, her stomach growled. "This is the end of your nightmare." She stated coldly, the words cutting into my skin like a heated knife. I took a final step back as she pounced...
