(The Maw - The Lair, Your POV)

After escaping the Shoe monster's pit, we found ourselves in quite the situation. As not too long after we escaped that room, the Janitor climbed down from nowhere and gave chase to us. I looked to where he came from and all my brain could think of is 'Where the hell did he come from?!'

We outran him and ended up back in the elevator, Six and RK hid in a box while I stood in the corner. In a stroke of dumb luck, once we reached a random floor, two nomes jumped out from hiding and ran off. The Janitor followed them as I peeked out into the room they went into. There is a lot of grandfather clocks and dolls in here.

I signaled Six and RK to follow me as we crept through on the soft but rather cold carpet. I could hear the Janitor still searching around.

RK, whispered to me "Those floor boards are loose, if we move this container we can slip underneath." He pointed to the loose floor boards. I nodded and pushed the box out of the way. RK and Six went into the floor first while I fell in last.

I listened closely for the janitor, he was in the room ahead of us and was moving things around. "We'll have to use this makeshift ladder but someone will have to distract him so he leaves the room. Any volunteers?" I asked, Six raised her hand.

I pointed up, "Alright. You head up, and see what you could find. It'll need to be loud enough for him to hear so he'll go after it. Be careful though, saving you from a cage is one thing, saving someone in the grasp of a monster is a whole 'nother situation." She nodded and climbed up, leaving me and RK alone.

RK was the first to break the awkward silence, "How long have you two known each other?" He asked curiously.

I raised my head to him, "Quite a long while now. We met in the Pale City. Got a ride from the Ferryman to here not long ago." I heard Six pick something up from above.

RK's eyes widened under his bangs, "You mean you came here willingly? I'm not sure whether to call you more dangerous than the Lady....Or dumber than the average kid."

I shrugged, "Didn't think there were many places much worse than the Pale City. Seems this world decided to prove me wrong." I heard a toy hit the floor and begin clacking, how many of those creepy monkey toys are in this place?

Six appeared at the ladder whispering, "Hurry, it won't distract him forever." She put her hand out, this'll be quicker than climbing it myself.

(Small timeskip - 3 minutes later)

"WHO'S IDEA WAS THIS?!" I yelled as we scattered throughout the Library. The Janitor following the nearest voice.

I climbed a stack of books into a vent hole and found myself in a room with a television. "Shit. Please don't be-" I pushed the button and it flicked on. A faint stream of static played through my mind, "Hopefully this isn't strong enough for Thinny to pull his pale ass through." I said, spotting a crank at the side of the room.

The door opened, two long arms spewed through and moved to the tv. I snuck out of the room with the crank in hand, meeting up with Six and RK at the place we needed the crank for.

I slotted the crank and began to pull the piano up from its hanging position. "Jump across! And through that vent in the wall!" I yelled, the two listened and crossed the gap quickly. RK almost fell but thankfully Six caught his hand. "Nice catch!" I yelled as I back up to gain speed.

The Janitor's hand was close to me, guess he caught onto my little scheme. I outran his hand and jumped onto the piano, the rope started to snap and break. "Six! Catch me!" I ran and jumped off the falling piano at the last second before the rope snapped. Six's hand caught mine, RK held her so she didn't fall off with me.

Six and RK's combined strength pulled me up, "Thank you both. That was way too close for my liking." I said as I climbed through the hole in the wall. Entering a room with a cart, and a blown pipe spewing hot steam that would pretty easily kill one of us if not avoided.

There's a door on the other side as well. I looked at the cart and the door. If I didn't have friends, I would need to use that however.

"Tall door, someone wants to get it for me?" I said, jumping the gap and getting in position to toss whoever wanted to take me up on the offer to get the handle. RK seemed unfamiliar with this tactic but Six was already one foot in my cupped hands.

"Up you go!" I boosted her up, she grabbed the handle and the door opened up to reveal one heck of a fall. "Do not let go!" I yelled in haste. Quickly moving to catch Six in case she doesn't take the warning or somehow see the abyss beneath her.

Thankfully she didn't fall and we went quite a bit without- 'HOLY CRAP!' I jumped back as one of the Janitor's hand came through one of the holes of the vent.

"You know what? Just for that scare." My power fist steamed onto my hand. I reared back and punched his hand as hard as I could.

He pulled it back quickly, leaving the way out completely open. I turned to Six and RK, "Let's get the hell out of here. Quickly." We exited the vent and the door next to us started to open. "RUN!" RK shouted and we all broke into a sprint, reaching a dead end room.

I looked back, the door had crushed a cage, which was the only thing stopping it from closing completely. Six looked at me, then the cage. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" She asked, smirking after.

It took me a second to understand what she meant, "Oh. Oh hell yes!" I ducked under the Janitor's left arm and started to pull one of the cage's metal bit off, Six on the other side doing the same.

"Arrivederchi!" I said as we ripped both pieces off the cage and broke it. The door slammed shut! Cutting both arms off the Janitor!

I couldn't help but laugh at our accomplishment. "Well, that establishes our dominance in this place hopefully." I moved out of the way of the still squirming hands. "Gross. Anyway where to?" RK pointed it the vent door that opened after the door slammed shut.

Six climbed onto the cage and jumped into the vent. "After you." I said to RK.

I looked back at the dismembered arms on the floor, "I just can't catch a break anywhere. Can I?"
