Codys perspective:
I heard birds chirping their morning songs but is was dark, and warm.. hot even.
I opened my eyes meeting black feathers. 'Strange.'
I got up slowly from under the dark wing. Instantly I was assaulted by the bright rays of the mornings light.
Slowly adjusting, I turned to observe my surroundings. I smiled seeing Lucas sleeping.
He was currently laying with his back to me. His right wing laid loosely on the bed while his left was behind me.
He looked much healthier now since he had a proper meal and a good nights rest.
I was finally able to take in his full appearance. Lucas was about 6 feet tall with 11 foot wing span. Right now he was skinny but with a proper diet I'm sure he'd be super strong and fit. His face was firm and rigged. Jet black hair came down to the tops of his ears while he had a bit of black stubble along his jaw line.
My stomach growled making Lucas reposition himself. During the shift he bought his left wing up and whacked me on the back of my head. "Ow!" I whispered and clutched my skull. I knew he didn't do it on purpose, but it still hurt.
I got off the bed sure to avoid his long black tail with feathers on the end of it.
'I forgot, today I have to take him to the vet.' I rubbed my eyes and opened the door to the hallway, outside. I shut it with a small click, "Cody!" I jumped at the loud voice. It was Deven and the rest of the staff. 'What are they all doing in the hallway?'
Mrs. Watson, our family doctor strode up to me and inspected my arms and the rest of my body. I raised and eyebrow. "Your not hurt are you. He didn't do anything to harm you did he?" She questioned with worry.
I pulled back, "what do you mean by hurt? And why is it that everyone refers to him as he, it or him? His name is Lucas!" I yelled.
"Cody we didn't mean it like that." Deven sighed putting a hand on my shoulder. I looked up at the man. He had bags under his eyes, must've not slept well or not at all.
"It's just we haven't herd from you and you did just bring a stranger home." "I guess you do have a point." I said in shame. I didn't mean to yell at them so I apologized.
Everyone was about to head back off to their duties, "wait" I called to them. They all stopped with confusion. "From now on, you have to call Lucas by his name and if he wants something, make sure he gets it. Also he's our friend." I whispered. Deven clapped his hands, "so that means he's a member of this house hold. Now lets get going." Everyone nodded and continued on their way.
I was thankful for Deven. He helped me alot when I was in a pickle or when ever I needed some one to back me up.
Deven was a fatherly figure who was tall with broad shoulders. He had dark brown hair that was always slicked back with grease or gel and he wore a suit every day.
"Let's get some grub." He smiled leading the way to the kitchen.
Breakfast.
A giant mountain of pancakes, bacon and french toast was loaded on my plate. Hungrily, I stuffed every crumb in my mouth. "Easy boy, try to taste it at least." I glared at the man playfully.
"You know that TAI's team is wanting number 7-uhh Lucas back." He corrected himself. I shrugged and ate the last piece of bacon on my plate. "So, it's not like they can make him play." I said, "after all he belongs to me now... right?"
Deven shook his head,"if only it were that simple." He handed me some papers. "You may own Lucas, but his contract is still with the head coach." I frowned not able to understand the documents I was holding.
