Dantés perspective
After the questioning from the Arc Angels, I was sent away, back to the pits of Hell. My chest felt tight as if I did something wrong.
The light disappeared revealing Lucas clutching his younger brother. I knew his memories would return when he turns 18 but the scene before me is breaking my non existent heart.
The Arc Angel named Baltazar whos human name is Lucas, older brother of Cody, was breaking right infront of me. I am the devil, I shouldn't feel sad over something like this.
"Lucas. You need to go." Slowly said person stood up clutching his brother to his chest. 'The boys wings disappeared! No they're hidden, awaiting the time for when they're called upon.'
He walked towards the cliff of No Return, the place he jumped when he first became an angel. It was said that if you did jump, you couldn't return to Heaven, yet here he is, getting ready to do it all over again.
"Danté.." I was dragged out of my thoughts and my breath caught. Within Heavens light, there stood the Halfbreed clad in his dark armor, wings outstretched. He turned his head back sideways, "please continue to watch over us. I know you're really a softie when children are involved." I couldn't resist smiling, 'caught red handed.'
Then he jumped. "Now why would I not watch over you. After all, you both excite me."
Devens perspective
Its been two whole days since the incident. The young master laid in the basement within his coffin while I laid in his bed, beer cans scattered all about.
'I've failed Lucas. That promise you made me sware, the one to protect your brother. I've broken it.'
My despair and regret ripped my heart to shreds. No longer could I think straight and instead, I found my gun in my hand. I looked at the cold sleek black object. 'Murder!'
Quickly I took the gun and placed the barrel to my forehead. I didn't feel fear, nor shake at the thought of death. I deserve what I get.
I pulled the trigger. "Deven!" I heard a familiar scream drowned out with the gun shot.
I opened my eyes to the casket below. There laid Lucas, peacefully surrounded by flowers but there was another next to him. Silently I walked over to inspect the other. My blood froze, "Cody.."
"Deven!" I jumped awake startled by the intensity of my name being called. I looked up to see Lucas gazing down at me. He looked very concerned, "are you alright my friend?" My eyes widened.
"Y-you... do you?" I stuttered 'when we were younger, he would call me that when ever I was to get injured. His friend when I'm only a mere servant.'
"Yes I remember. I remember everything including our promise." My heart sank. "M-master, I-I'm so sorry." I couldn't hold his gaze anymore. I clenched my teeth and fist in aggravation and anger.
"Cody is doing just fine. He's sleeping over on the couch." He smiled.
"H-he's alive!? But how?" All these questions plagued my mind.
"I'll tell you another day" Lucas smile seemed to fade. 'Something's wrong. His breathing is shallow and he grunts if he moves to much.'
"Master you're injured!" I yelled, seeing the bloodied feathers. Quickly getting up and fetching the first aid kit I then setting at work to clean his wounds. They were everywhere. But the gaping hole in his chest scared me the worst. "Master how-"
"Stop calling me that." I flinched at his cold words. "Cody was forced to forget about me, and I wish to keep it that way. So from now on, continue calling me by my name." He ordered then smiled.
