(Ok so this one is kind of long. Take your time because I'm going to work on my other one... break time. Below in italics is the continuation of Lucas's dream from the earlier chapter.)
And I jumped. Clouds whizzed by, the air ripping at my skin-smashing through my feathers.
"You are my test subject. We will watch and judge you based upon your actions. Be warned, we cannot control what'll happen to you if something wrong is to occur. So be cautious, my little pet. For the road ahead is a long and difficult one.
However this will prepare you for your journey." The voice said and my eyes widened.
Everything burned. "Gahhh!" I screamed but the wind quickly muffled my cry of agony.
Then I smelt it, the burning of flesh. Maneuvering to where my back was facing the ground I saw the horror of what was happening. The pure white wings were burning. The fire crept down towards the tips consuming everything in its path like a plague, leaving only black death behind.
A new pain made itself known. This one was worse however-making me convulse in spasms. It felt like my spine was being twisted and pulled-the sounds of bones cracking was deafning.
The immense pain made my vision turn black and my mind began to grow hazy.
'Why. Why am I falling through an endless sky? What's happening to my body? Why do I have a tail? W-who am I?'
My mind raked, but I had no recollection of a time before falling.
I turned to face the ground. Looking at the beautiful land made me smile and close my eyes. The pain slowly ebbing away.
Unexpectingly through the wind I herd it as clear as day. The piercing cry of a baby screaming with its first breaths of life. My eyes shot open and tears fell from down my face, leaving a trail of glistening drops in the perfect blue sky.
"Lucas!" I shot up, throwing the blankets and flinging feathers all over the place.
Cody was half dressed-only a pair of pants was on his petite body. "Come on! There's a game today." He breathed.
"What do you mean there's a game? It's scheduled for this weekend." I said watching the boy struggle with a button up shirt. I bent over and buttoned it up as he talked.
"No its been moved today because there's a hurricane hitting us Saturday." I could sense his fear and anxiety.
"Are the others up?" "Yes, Deven's getting them as we speak." I smiled and stood, stretching my wings and tail.
"Well, lets get going." I rubbed his head affectionately earning a smile from him.
Cody's perspective.
We arrived at the stadium in record time. Ok, we ran all the red lights but whatever.
"I'm going to go check us in since Mr. Goody Two Shoes signed me down as the owner." Deven jerked his thumb in the direction of the registration office.
When he left I turned to Lucas. He was currently putting on his armored gear- fastening straps and harnesses. I couldn't help but think he looked like a warrior.
"Cody." I blinked coming out of my thoughts. Lucas was kneeling in front of me, concerned. "What's the matter?" I shook my head refusing to look at him. 'What if something is to happen to him or what if we didn't train him good enough? And because of me he is going to get hurt.'
A firm hand grabbed my chin, lifting it upwards. "Tell me now." I gazed into his cobalt eyes and gave up. "W-what if you get hurt or worse." I choked out.
