The next morning, Kylo and Alix continued their trek through the swamp marshes and of course they were both soaking with sweat from the excessive heat and the walk. Their hair was practically wet as if they had both been doused in rain. It was a good thing they both wore boots since the water was up to their ankles. They conducted to walk the path but then Alix felt a sharp pain in her head and needed to sit down.

Kylo stopped in his tracks and looked over at her, concerned, "Hey, you okay?"

"I'm fine, it must be the heat my head is killing me and I can barely walk. Just keep going I'll catch up," she said.

"That's not happening."

"Just go, I think I can handle myself," she said.

"I know you can that's why I'm waiting for you." She smiled, that was actually the first time she ever smiled at him.

"I had a crazy dream last night," she said. He looked at her and strangely he didn't pretend not to care, he sat down next to her and listened. "I dreamt that I was a baby again and...I was with my dad. He talked to me but the only problem was that my dream refused to reveal him to me, it was all blurry. Then everything changed."

"Was there something he said that you were able to make out of?" He asked.

"He said something important, that I should never forget moments like that and that I was too precious, and that he wanted me safe, and that was it. I think maybe there was more but...sometimes I feel like my dad is giving me these dreams, as a signal to tell me that he's still alive somewhere."

"Is that why you woke up last night?" He asked. She looked at him completely baffled and confused. "How did you know I woke up last night?" She asked.

"I could sense how tense you became, and then you scoped through my mind," he said. She felt a pit in her stomach and her eyes grew wide. "You think I couldn't sense you searching through my head?"

"I assumed you were sleeping," she said.

He smirked, "What did you see?"

"Uh, not a lot."

"Really? What's not a lot?" He asked.

"I only saw glimpses."

"Like what?"

"Well, I saw a little girl and a woman and they were both pretty but the thing was the woman I could barely make out and the little girl seemed very familiar. The you came in and the little girl ran over to you and she was happy to see you."

"Anything else?" He said, this time he wasn't looking at her anymore.

"Then it changed, the little girl was gone and then I was standing in a field and I saw you and the woman again but you were holding hands but when I looked at the woman it was..." She stopped for a second afraid that if she said she saw her mother he would blow up at her.

"Yes?" She could the strain in his voice.

"It was...my mom. She was holding your hand, and you two looked so happy."

He was quiet, did she say something wrong? She got scared, would he leave her right now and tell her that she was on her own? She wasn't sure. Then he sighed heavily and brushed his fingers through his hair.

"Rey means nothing to me, she always has," he said.

"If she means nothing to you, then why did I see her holding your hand?" Alix asked.

"Because...before Ben Solo came along...she intrigued me. Rey was tough, but she was also kind-hearted, she knew me very well, and I knew her. Things between us were either strained or they were subtle."
