[A/N: TYSM FOR 10K READS, BRO YALL ARE AMAZING 😭😫]
Your lips brushing against the crisp metal of Touya's staples, you tried to gather your thoughts once more.
"Took you long enough," you mumbled against him, closing the gap once more to kiss him again, but something tugged at the back of your mind, preventing you from doing so.
'Stop. What the fuck are you doing?!'
Not this again. You wanted so desperately to tell X to shut up and let you be happy for once, but she just kept droning on.
'You're not thinking about this straight, (y/n). You're not kids anymore, you have responsibilities and-'
You wanted to find some kind of a way for the whispers to go away, although your hesitation was quickly picked up by Touya, who pulled away.
"What is it? You say one thing, but then you're--"
"Nothing," you quickly whispered, "It's nothing, I'm sorry, I keep-"
'You keep what? Hearing common sense? Yeah, and that's a good thing. Think this through, or else you'll-'
"SHUT UP!"
Touya looked at you, azure eyes darting from side to side as he tried to figure out what was going on. You let out a groan, throwing your head back.
"Fuck, will you ever stop talking?!" you addressed the constant nagging in your head. "Tou, my bad, I don't-"
You didn't finish your statement, as he raised a hand at you.
"It's okay, but... damn, you still don't have that quirk of yours under control, do you?" he asked as though this was news, and he looked... disappointed to see that you can't tame X? It was just a hint here and there in the tone of his voice and his facial expression, but he looked disappointed, you could tell.
You bit the inside of your cheek, then tried to formulate words. "No, it just got... worse, since then. I'm hearing less of other people and more of X, but it's fine, I-"
"Oh, fuck, I forgot you could hear mine."
Now, you could've sworn he was a bit scared. Each and every emotion, every subtle flinch and tensing of muscles, you felt it all in HD. And now X was gone, too. What the hell is going on with your quirk?
Nevertheless, you didn't have the time nor the mind to answer your incessant doubt, and you led your attention to addressing his reaction instead.
"Is that a problem?" your brows creased together, trying to make sense of this, too. "It's not like I can check your shadow willingly, plus I wouldn't monitor yo-"
"It's fine."
'This bitch. C'mon, (y/n), tell it to me. Tell me, without a doubt, that Touya is the same as the one you met all those years ago. That he still cares about you.'
'Don't answer her,' you chanted internally. X is nothing but a white noise, background muttering you don't need to listen to. She makes everything worse, always ruins your life for you. It's all her fault. It's her fault you're stuck here, with Touya, yet you still find yourself in doubt, you still find yourself unhappy.
It's ridiculous. Touya, your childhood friend, the one person on earth who gets you and who cares about you, is right here.
'Just be happy, god damnit, (y/n),' you reprimanded yourself.
"Hey, you still with me?" he said, snapping you back to reality.
"Yes, I-"
"Wanna run away together?"
