You woke up desperately needing coffee.
To say that yesterday was awkward would be the understatement of the century; you thought it would be a nice, simple return to the third dimension, but, unsurprisingly, it was filled with awful nausea and headaches.
                              And a weird relationship status.
You'd been there the entire time; when X killed those people, when she got caught by the HPSC, when she met Keigo, when she fucked him.
That last part was painful to think about, and you got too emotional to make it past the time when Keigo first kissed her. It hurt so much. It hurt to know that he was being manipulated the entire time.
So, being a shadow not bound to your physical body, you strolled around. Doing nothing. For 3 months.
It was better than watching X torture someone else.
To make matters worse, she wasn't doing it because she had to. She was doing it because she knew that this type of thing would hurt you. What hurts you makes her stronger.
Even if that means hurting someone else.
You felt so bad for Keigo, and had no clue what kind of fuckery his mind must be going through. He didn't seem to be very used to letting people into his life, and this must've hurt.
                              Everything hurts.
Your mind, your soul, your quirk, your body, everything fucking hurts, and there's no way to make it stop.
"(y/n)?!" a panicked cry from the inside of the apartment.
"Yeah, I'm out here!" you called out in response, hoping he will hear you.
Some footsteps approaching you quickly made you think that maybe you should have told him you'd be on the balcony at this unholy hour of the morning.
"(y/n), don't do that to me" Keigo let out a sigh of relief upon seeing you.
"Sorry, I just needed some air. I didn't want to wake you up" you apologized.
"That's alright, the early bird catches the worm, I guess" he chuckled at his own bird joke, but it was clearly forced.
Things really were quite awkward between you and the Winged Hero.
You were curled up, sitting on the floor, hugging your knees with one hand and sipping your millionth coffee with your other one.
You were also wearing Keigo's sweater.
It had holes in the back - for his wings - but you were wearing a tank top underneath anyways, so you didn't mind much.
"Hey, Keigo?" you meekly asked, just as he was about to return inside.
                              "Yeah?"
"What are we going to do?"
"I'm not too sure, yet. Just give me some time to figure this out--"
                              "I can help"
                              "That's alright, I--"
"I want to help" you practically begged for him to give you something to do all day, instead of sitting around, listening to X and feeling guilty about the last while.
'Look at you, petty bitch. You're slowing him down and you know it. You're the one who let me out. You're the one weak enough to not be able to do anything to stop me. Do you really think you can fix all this by annoying him until he gives you something to do?'
"Right now, just staying here and not letting X get into any more trouble is extremely helpful" he smiled brightly.
"Are you sure?" you looked up at him, and that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach kept diving deeper; you just want to fix this.
