(HAWKS POV)

His warm lips were pressed against hers. She made sure not to hurt him any more than he'd already been, readjusting her position while grinding her lips against his mouth in a passionate kiss. His muscular arms were attached to numerous machines with tubes coming in and out of him, but they didn't stop Hawks from wrapping them around (y/n). Everything hurt, but he simply didn't care; everything felt right. Everything felt so perfect in that one moment.

Kissing (y/n) in the hospital after getting shot multiple times.

-

A yawn complimented (y/n)'s tired and bored expression.

"It's been.. what? A month? A month and a half? The damn HPSC needs to make up their minds; either they trust me or they don't. Pick one. Another one of these night patrols and I think I'll just let them throw me in Tartarus"

Hawks chuckled lightly. "Yeah, don't worry about that, kid. They like to take their time with stuff. Not everyone is as fast as me"

"Hawks. What's the status on (l/n)?" Boss Lady asked him during their meeting.

"Same thing as last week; she hasn't mentioned her quirk at all. Nothing about her past, her relationship with her mother or possible motive for the murders" he lied straight to her face. Good thing he's good at what he does.

"We had high hopes for your skills on this particular case..."

"This isn't a question of skill, ma'am" he tried to recover. "(l/n) is consciously avoiding giving me any information about herself, and appears to know precisely how badly we need information about her quirk"

"..." she crossed her arms, pausing for a second to process this. "Very well. Once she gives you even the most remote amount of information, let us know. We will then publicize her as an official hero to show her that we have high hopes for her future career"

Hawks nodded, before walking out of the room, his hands shoved deeply in his pockets and his mind deep in thought. What was he doing? This is ridiculous. He should have told his superiors what happened. Even (y/n) thinks that he told them. No; (y/n) knew that he has to report this kind of stuff to the HPSC when she showed him the abandoned home...

So why didn't he?

~

"Yeah. I don't know what their plans are for you" he shrugged. "I'm sure they'll make you an official hero soon enough, though"

"Ew" she scrunched her nose in disgust.

"What do you mean 'ew'? "

"'ew'; an exclamation used to express disgust or distaste"

"Look at you, little-miss-smarty-pants"

"Are my words too big for you to understand, bird brain?" she teased. "I was just saying... I don't want to go public. Surely, I could be an underground hero of sorts, without you constantly having to babysit me?"

Hawks feigned a hurt expression. "Do you really want to get rid of me that badly?"

"I never said that, you little kid" she giggled. "I'd have to be crazy not to want the great and powerful Keigo around"

"Hey, no fair!" his wings spread out in an instinctual reflex to assert dominance, but he didn't seem to notice them. "It's my job to tease you!"

"Oh god, that's adorable" she laughed some more, pointing at his wings.

Hawks realized what he was doing and quickly re-contracted his wings back to their regular position.
