Chapter 21 - It's over

You sounded like a severely constipated mouse as you quickly responded "yes-okay, I-will-come-and-we-can-discuss-that-okay-bye! See-you-in-a-bit!"

You pressed the hang-up button faster than humanely possible.

"Touya, I swear I never-"

"You told him."

He didn't even seem mad, in fact, you were having trouble figuring out which emotion exactly your friend was showing on his patchwork face.

If anything, he looked empty.

"I wouldn't do that, you know it, Tou. I promise, I swear I have never once mentioned you."

'Liar.'

"You fucking mentioned him, you goddamn bitch!" you shrieked, body aching to lunge for something and punch it, since you couldn't physically attack X.

'See, I told you! Keigo's smart, of course he would find out who Touya is. Imagine how he's going to react when he finds out that "Dabi", the guy you ran off with and spent the night and an entire day with, is Touya as well? Oh gosh, he'd freak out! Or, or maybe he would tell on you! Or-'

"I have never once told him that you're a Todoroki," you grit your teeth, trying to ignore X and focus on the supposedly enraged man in front of you.

"You sure? Because people don't tend to keep secrets from the people they're fucking."

"Fu-... wait, what do you mean?! I'm not... Hawks and I, we're not... ugh, it's complicated."

His eyes thinned as he retained an eerily calm gaze on you. "Complicated is a word people use when they lie. I didn't think you'd-"

"No! I'm not... I'm not lying. There was some time when I got possessed by X and she led him into a relationship, but when I got back, we broke it off and we're just friends! It's... It's not you think it is."

"Mhm."

With that, he turned around, then tossed a hand in the air as a wave goodbye. "Have fun with your friend, then."

'Ew, is he throwing a tantrum just because you were with another guy? Ugh, he's so-'

"X, shut the actual fuck up, and Touya, wait! Please, just listen, I-"

You were on the verge of running off to get him, but your ankle tugged you backwards, and you realized that you were still hooked to the computer with all the wires. You couldn't detach it, since you didn't know if that would ruin all the work you'd already done.

He was going to leave.

Touya was going to leave you right after you'd just gotten him back.

This is not happening.

You didn't know what to do, would you go run after him and ruin the progress you'd done on finally getting free? Besides, he doesn't seem like he wants to listen, which makes sense. 

Everything makes sense, it's just... you. You're the one who keeps messing everything up. You're the complicated one.

'Self-pity? Oh, it's been a while since we've had that.'

You had no response, at this point.

However, as you watched him head for the door, his feet suddenly stopped moving. He seemed just as confused as you were by this, and tried to tug them upwards, but nothing happened.

It was as though his shoes were glued to the floor.

'You forget I feed on your negative emotions,' X playfully reminded you, and you finally made the link between the lack of movement and your shadow, she did that often when trying to trip you up by possessing your shoes, 'and I love the taste of self-pity. If you give me something, I'll give you something back.'
