It was a beautiful day on Berk. The weather was chilly, but thank goodness it wasn't drastically cold. But during the night before, a cold front came in, and some of the villagers experienced some symptoms, including Astrid Hofferson.
Normally, Astrid was able to stay well throughout the year, but the cold weather of devastating winter was the one thing she swore she was immune against. And this year, she got hit with a fever, runny nose, sore throat, and coughing fits, and Astrid did not enjoy that at all.
As sixteen-year-old Astrid walked over to the academy, her boyfriend, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, son of Stoick the Vast, spotted his love and immediately ran up beside her.
"Mornin', M'lady," he greeted, giving her a peck on the cheek that warmed her up a bit. Hiccup smiled at her, but he noticed that she had flinched when he kissed her and had moved away from him a little bit, and though he waited a few moments, she did not return the greeting.
"Astrid, are you okay? What's wrong?"
Astrid shivered, wrapping her arms around herself so she wouldn't feel so cold. Hiccup tried to put his hand on her shoulder, but she shrugged it off. "Nothing." And following that spoken word, she sneezed.
Hiccup sighed and rolled his eyes. "I have a hard time believing that, M'lady."
"I'm fine," she shot back, soon coughing into her shoulder. "The cold weather's just been affecting me lately, that's all."
"So, if that's the case, why aren't you home in bed?" Hiccup knew the answer, but he asked anyways. Everyone knew Astrid was tough and didn't want a simple cold to stop her from what she already planned, but Astrid needed to learn the term 'sick day'.
Hiccup spoke again, not caring if his girlfriend decided to get mad at him for prodding. "If you're sick because of the cold, don't you think you should be inside, away from the cold?"
Astrid sneezed. "First of all, I'm not sick. Secondly, it's not even that cold. Maybe to you, but I'm fine." She took a quick glance at Hiccup, and it looked like he was becoming agitated. "What?" she asked. "What's with the scowl?"
"Astrid," Hiccup started. "You are, in fact, cold because you're shivering. I think that gave it away." Astrid rolled her eyes at him as tthey continued to walk along. "And secondly, every time I try to help you when you're under the weather, you push me away. I just want to-"
"I don't want you to get sick too," she said, cutting him off. "And I know that doesn't usually happen often, but I don't want to take that chance."
"Then let's take you home-"
Hiccup was then cut off again. "Hiccup, I'm going to tell you this only one more time; I'm fine." Astrid snapped. With her feeling unwell, she wasn't in the greatest of moods.
Hiccup groaned. "Astrid..."
"I.Am.Fine." she concluded as she reached the entrance of the academy. Just as she was about to walk inside, Hiccup made the quick decision to take action. He quickly brought his arms around Astrid, carryinng her in his lean arms bridal style.
"Hiccup! Put me down!" she screeched, trying to get out of Hiccup's grip. "HICCUP!"
Hiccup swiftly placed a gentle, split second kiss upon Astrid's lips, silencing her, He knew that she would never back away from a kiss, so he took this opportunity to use that to his advantage.
As he pulled away, his girlfriend was about to object, but he simply sushed her, placing a kiss on her forehead. He didn't care that he had kissed Astrid while she was sick. It's not like he got sick that often anyways. Plus, it was just a simple peck, not anything more, so he was sure that he wasn't going to get sick from that.
"Now let's take you home, M'lady, and I'll help you get well." Astrid smiled, leaning her head against Hiccup's chest, and Hiccup grinned. He really liked having a significant other.

"Here's some water, some more blankets, and a warm cup of tea for M'lady," Hiccup spoke, placing the drinks on his beside table before tucking Astrid in bed. He carried her to the Haddock household, letting her stay in his bed until she was well and rested.
"Thanks, Babe," Astrid said, taking a small sip of the tea. "Thank you for doing all this."
"Anything for M'lady," Hiccup said, placing a miniscule kiss to Astrid's forehead. He calmly pulled up a chair next to the bed and sat down, running his hands through Astrid's soft hair. He smiled as he did so, just enjoying being around his significant other, when something jolted him from his absent minded dreaming.
"I think you have a fever..." Hiccup trailed off, placing his hand on Astrid's forehead once more. "Babe, you're burning up!"
"I'm fine," Astrid mumbled, turning on her side as she pulled the blankets over her head.
Hiccup just sighed, rubbing Astrid's side. "You just don't want to admit you're sick, do you?"
"I'm not sick," Astrid said, agitation ringing in her voice as she pulled the blankets around her even tighter. "I'm not sick."
"Whatever you say, but I'm going to make a quick trip to Gothi's to find out if she has some sort of medicine that will make your fever go down."
"Okay," Astrid mumbled, her voice being muffled by the many blankets that were laid on top of her. Hiccup just smiled before walking over to Astrid and placing yet another gentle kiss atop her head. "I love you, M'lady," he whispered as he kissed her forehead once again. Astrid shivered as sparks went down her spine from the affectionate touch. She peeked her head out of the covers, running one of her hands through Hiccup's auburn locks.
"I love you too, Babe. Always."
Hiccup gave one last grin before heading outside to find Toothless so that he could hopefully get some medicine from Gothi to make his "M'lady" well.

Hmm...not my best, but MaryCresenta has a better version of a "sick" oneshot. This is kind of based off of hers, so... :)
Oh, I need a name for Astrid's father! Do you guys have any suggestions? I'd like it to be an actual Norse name though.
Have a "fantastic" day!
...I've been watching too much Doctor Who.
Oh, and I've officially been on Wattpad for a year now! Yay! Maybe I can have a special one shot in the works...
