It was a beautiful day on Berk. The sun was shining, Terrible Terrors were singing on the rooftops, and all was well in the quaint Berkian village. While most everyone was already up and about, Hiccup and Astrid were still in bed, tired from the late night meeting at the Great Hall they had to attend the night before. Since Hiccup was chief, he had to organize the meeting as well as be there, and Astrid was his second in command. Plus, they were married and lived together, so Astrid thought it would be best to accompany her husband to the meeting and they could head home together afterwards.
Since Valka was aware of why the two newlyweds were so exhausted, she let them be, deciding she would handle the chiefing today. Hiccup had a lot on his plate, and he definitely needed a break. Astrid certaintly needed one too; being second in command to the chief is not easy.
Hiccup and Astrid laid sound asleep in bed, Hiccup's arm around Astrid's waist as her head was laid on his bare chest. Suddenly, she started to stir, and soon enough she slowly blinked her eyes open. She knew they had slept in late, but she also knew that Valka, being the wonderful woman she was, was giving them an opportunity to rest, and Astrid was certaintly going to take it.
Astrid gently ran her hand down Hiccup's chest, feeling his cold bare skin against her palm. She slowy lifted some more of the blanket onto Hiccup and cuddled into him. Then, he started to stir. Astrid moved her head away as she felt him move and stretch a little, and then shift back into his original position.
"Good morning, M'lady," Hiccup spoke in his morning voice that sent shivers down Astrid's spine.
"Morning, Babe," she answered, giving her husband a quick peck on the lips. She brought her hand to his hair and ran it through the auburn locks, a small smile appearing on her face. "Did you sleep well?"
"Very well," Hiccup murmmured, sighing as his divine beauty played with his hair. "And you?"
"I slept really well last night too," she spoke. Her fingers were still laced in Hiccup's hair. She decided to give him a peck on the cheek before Hiccup surprised her and he quickly kissed her neck.
"Hiccup...stop," she said laughing, still trying to wake up from her slumber. Although, Hiccup just ignored her. He left a trail of butterfly kisses along Astrid's neck, and he gave a little laugh before continuing to her lips. It only lasted a few mere seconds before he parted his lips from hers and stared into the sapphire eyes that gleamed back at him.
"I love you," he whispered, gently rubbing his hand along Astrid's back.
"I love you too, Babe." Hiccup just smiled and kissed her again.
"You're so beautiful."
"Oh, stop it!" Astrid giggled, playfully hitting Hiccup on the arm. "Stop making me blush!"
"I could make you blush more," Hiccup said with a smirk, and Astrid just rolled her eyes.
"Well, even though you probably could, we should probably get up and do something productive with our day." She slowly rose up from the bed and started getting ready.
"Why can't we just stay in bed?" Hiccup groaned into his pillow. He was extremely tired and just wanted to spend time with his wife. He hardly had time for anyone these days.
"Because."
"Because what?"
Astrid rolled her eyes again. She walked over to Hiccup's nightstand to grab an item before Hiccup wrapped his arms around her, accidentally making her topple back on top of him.
"You dork!" she exclaimed, trying to brush her bangs away from her face, but they kept on falling back.
"Here, let me help." Hiccup pushed away the bangs and they somehow stayed in place.
"How did you do that?" Astrid giggled as she sat on Hiccup's lap. "And don't even start with the "special boyfriend powers" again." Hiccup made a pouting face and Astrid just laughed.
"Please, M'lady, just stay here with me."
"Hiccup..." Astrid trailed off with another giggle. She tried to stand up again but Hiccup wouldn't let her. He wrapped his arms around her again and this time he didn't pull them away. Astrid was stuck in his grip. He kissed along her neck a few more times and placed a miniscule kiss on her lips.
"If you stay with me, I can kiss you more."
"...Ugh...fine," Astrid said with one last laugh. The idea was very tempting and she was tired anyways. This might be a good chance to have some alone time with Hiccup too. The days that she got to spend with him didn't come often enough. "But only as long as I get to kiss you back."
