Ever since the romantic flight Hiccup had taken Astrid on to show her dragons through his point of view, the flight had rekindled the spark Astrid had always felt for HIccup, but long since forgotten.

She never exactly loved him, but she noticed how different he was from the others; he wasn't a jerk like Snotlout, rude like Tuffnut could be, and he definitely wasn't full of himself. He was just, himself, and Astrid liked that.

But to be a viking, you have to walk like one, talk like one, and think like one, so that kept Astrid from ever falling for HIccup. She had been raised to swing an axe and to be self-assured and strong, and Hiccup would wander off looking for knomes, trolls, and sometimes dragons (at least that was the town-spread rumour). The girl's father never really appreciated Hiccup, but was loyal to Stoick since he was in fact the chief. Astrid's father never had a liking for Stoick's son, Hiccup, since he "wasn't fit to be a viking." Instead of being strong, threatening, and fierce, Hiccup was weak, not threatening whatsoever, and kind; not exactly what vikings appreciated, but Astrid did.

It had been several months after the Red Death incident, and Hiccup and Astrid were taking a peaceful walk through the Berkian forest as their dragons romped around, playing tag. The day was absolutely beautiful, and needless to say, Astrid was falling hard for Hiccup. She had a hard time holding back her feelings for him now that the two became closer than ever before, and they both started to fall for each other even more.

"So, Hiccup," Astrid began, walking alongside her friend. "Can I ask you something...personal?"

Hiccup stopped in his tracks and looked at Astrid, seeming to think hard about something. Once he realized he was zoning out, he immediately straightened his posture and cleared his throat. "Of course. You can always ask me anything."

Astrid smiled at the boy before wondering how she would ask him her question.

"Do you, um, like anyone?"

She flinched; that may have been a really bad question to ask. Hiccup could catch on and realize that Astrid liked him, and she did not want that to happen...unless he happened to like her.

"Well, uh, you see," Hiccup stuttered, scratching the back of his neck as a sign of nervousness. "Thing is, I do like someone, but I'm not quite sure if she likes me. Wait, no, I'm positive she doesn't."

"What makes you say that?"

Hiccup heaved in a sigh, his shoulders slumping as he glanced at the ground. "Because she's beautiful and strong, any girl a guy would want, and well, look at me. I'm nothing but a scrawny fishbone who somehow happened to not kicked out of this tribe-"

"Hiccup!" Astrid interrupted, angry that Hiccup would talk about himself that way.

"The girl I love deserves more than the little Hiccup standing right in front of her."

Astrid became silent.

She realized that Hiccup loved her.

"Astrid?" Hiccup asked after her moment of silence. "Oh, why in thor's name did I say that? Oh great, now our friendship is ruined because I just had to mess something up again-"

"Hiccup," Astrid replied softly, holding her crush's shoulder. "I thought the boy in front of me didn't take any interest in me, so I guess we both guessed wrong."

Hiccup stared at her with a shocked look on his face until Astrid pressed her lips to his. Hiccup dropped the journal that was in his hands moments before as he sketched, and he reluctantly brought his hand to Astrid's hair, soon enjoying the feeling of her soft locks. Astrid's hands trailed up to Hiccup's hair and he let out a sigh, and the two gave a little laugh. They closed the gap between them again and savored the feeling of each others lips for only a few seconds before parting and staring lovingly into each other's eyes.

"Woah," Hiccup breathed. "I could definitely get used to this."

A/N

Sucky one-shot? Basically.

I'm so out of inspiration right now that it's unreal. -_-

I think this is kind of based off a one-shot MaryCresenta wrote, but I don't remember which one ugh.

I might delete this later because it's plain awful and short but it's been a bit since I gave you guys a one-shot so here ya go.

Until next time,
