1.
The last thing I expected when I woke up Friday morning and went down for breakfast was to find Bobby having breakfast with my mother.
"Good morning." I said looking at Bobby with a raised eyebrow.
"Good morning sweetie." My mother said. "Look who come by looking for you."
"At seven in the morning?" I asked Bobby.
"We've got a long day planned." He said.
"We do?" I asked.
"Yes." He said.
I decided to not ask him anymore questions until later. I took a seat next to him in the barstool next to the counter.
We didn't have school today because of who knows what but at least we don't have school so I don't care about the reason.
"Hope don't forget we have to go dress shopping tomorrow." My mother said.
"How could I forget." I groaned.
"Don't start complaining. We need to find you a dress for the charity event and for Homecoming. It'll be fun!" She said.
"So fun." I said. "Where's dad?" I asked.
"He just left." My mother said.
"Where too?"
"Finish some paperwork that's suppose to be done by the end of today." Bobby said.
"How do you know?" I asked him.
"He was the one who let me in." Bobby explained.
I nodded and grabbed some pancakes from the stack in a plate in the middle of the counter and joined my mother and Bobby at having breakfast. I finished first so I went upstairs to change so Bobby and I could leave as quickly as possible. My mother was starting to bombard Bobby with questions and telling him stories about when I was little. The quicker I get changed the faster we can leave and Bobby doesn't find some really embarrassing thing I did when I was a kid.
I quickly changed and grabbed my bags then hurried out of my room and down the stairs.
-
"Dexter has been asking about you." Bobby said.
"He has?" I asked surprised.
"Yeah. Apparently he really liked you and thinks you're hilarious." Bobby said.
"And what have you told him?" I asked.
"I told him you're horrible." Bobby laughed and I punched his arm.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked changing the subject.
"You've asked over a dozen times already and I haven't told you so why would I now?" Bobby said. "Don't you want to spend the day with me?"
"No offense but I'd rather be watching Supernatural right now than walking around town." I said.
"You're impossible." Bobby said stopping and looking at me. "Okay lets do this." He stopped walking and pointed across the street.
"Cozy Books & Caffe?" I asked.
"Correct. As you may remember I still owe you some books because of the lab inccident and like I promised here we are." He said as we crossed the street and stopped in front of the store.
"Wow. Thanks." I said.
Bobby opened the door for me and I steppes inside smiling. Now this was my kind of place.
"I'll buy you how many you want." Bobby said.
"Dude I love you." I said turning to look at him.
"I'm so using today against you in the future." He said smiling.
"Come on!" I said grabbing him by the hand a dragging him down an aisle to the young adult section. "There must be thousands of books here."
"There is." Bobby said as we walked down the aisles to the back where the young adult section was located. "I was bored once and counted them all."
I turned and looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "You don't have a life do you?" I asked.
He blushed. "Absolutely not." He said.
Once we finally reached the young adult section we split up and went looking for some great books. I asked Bobby to help me pick some books out and he gladly agreed too.
There were so many to pick from but I didn't want to get to many since Bobby was paying and I didn't want to waste to much of his money. He might have agreed to this but that doesn't mean I'll take advantage of him. He's been nothing but a great guy since we became friends.
I was carrying seven books when I met up with Bobby who had nine books. He showed me the one he'd found and in the end I only picked five of the sixteen books we had collected in total. Both, Bobby and I, made our way to the front of the store where the register was located but halfway there I saw someone I didn't expect to see here.
"Look Bobby. There's Nichole." I said motioning with my head.
"I didn't know she worked here!" He said panicking.
Nichole was wearing a blue polo shirt with a tag with her name on it and the stores name. She wasn't here, or at least we didn't see her here, when we first got here.
"Stop worrying. I'm sure she won't see up." I whispered back.
I spoke to soon because Nichole moved to the aisle next to where we were standing and Bobby accidentally bumped against the bookshelf making some books fall on Nichole. I quickly steadied the bookshelf before it fell on Nichole and squashed her like a bug. That would not be good.
"Are you okay?" I asked her walking over to her.
"Yeah." She smiled and started picking up the books that had fallen and put them back in place. "Someone must've accidentally bumped into the bookshelf." She said and then noticed Bobby. "Oh, hey."
"Me?" Bobby asked looking behind his shoulder and I wanted to facepalm myself.
"Yeah." Nichole said.
"Oh, hi." He said.
"So Nichole I didn't know you worked here?" I asked.
"I don't. I'm volunteering here since the owner needs some help but doesn't have much to pay. It's fun and relaxing so it isn't that bad. I also get to meet a lot of new people driving by the town and just making a stop for coffee or some snacks." She said.
"Nichole we have a customer who needs help." A girl who looked nineteen peeked her head at the end of the aisle. She smiled at Bobby and I.
"I'll be right with them." She said to the girl.
"Okay." The girl said then left.
"Well it was nice talking to you but I've got to get going. See you at school Monday." She said.
"Bye." I said as she walked away. Once she was far away enough that she wouldn't hear me I turned to Bobby and punched him in the shoulder. "Lesson number two: don't almost squash your crush with a bookshelf!"
Bobby only blushed.
