"Mom do you have something to tell me?" I asked not looking up from my book.

"No. Why do you ask?"

"You've been sitting there staring at me for over half an hour and it's really starting to freak me out." I said.

"Oh." She said and I waited for her to spit out whatever she had to say to me. The faster she did the faster she would go back into the house and leave me alone in the backyard to read, peacefully. "Okay I do have something to say."

I put the bookmark in my book and closed it then looked up at my mother. "Go ahead." I said.

"I invited that guy who helped you out the other night for dinner." She said and I wasn't even surprised. I'd warned Bobby about my mother's obsession with shipping people together and he'd laughed and said his parents were the same.

"And he said no. Mother I told you we aren't dating and he isn't even really a friend. I'm just helping him out with something and-"

"He said yes!" My mom said excitedly and with a big smile.

"He did what?" I asked.

"He said he would be delighted to come for dinner!" My mom said.

"He can't."

"But he is!"

I'm going to kill him.

"Okay. When exactly is this dinner he's coming too?" I asked.

"Tonight." My mom stood up quickly and ran away to the backyard doors and back into the house. "Wear something nice!" I heard her yell before going to hide somewhere.

I grabbed my cell phone from the glass table next to me in my hammock chair. It was very comfty.

I dialed Bobby. He had finally called me with questions a couple days ago. The only problem was that he had called me at three in the morning and his question was whether I was asleep or not.

"I was wondering when you would call?" Was the first thing he said and I could imagine him smirking.

"Why the heck did you agree to have dinner with my parents and me tonight?" I asked.

"Food is food." He said.

"You do realize you're just giving my Mom false hopes that we'll get together right?" I asked.
