"Oh my gods Rachel can you just get your shit together and hook up with Ross!"
No, that wasn't me. That was my mother sitting in my bed with me watching Friends. She has issues. More specific otp issues.
"Mom. It's okay." I comforted her. "We've seen the whole series dozens of times and you know what happens. Calm down."
"It's just so infuriating!" She protested.
"Shouldn't we be getting ready for dinner?" I asked her.
"We've still got time." She said going back to watching TV.
"We have less than forty minutes until we have to leave." I pointed out.
She sprang up from my bed. "Your father is going to kill me if he finds out that I was to busy fangirling and we haven't gotten ready! Okay here's the plan. Whoever finishes getting ready first gets to pick the next TV series marathon." She said.
"It's on." I said.
"Bring it." My mother said.
We stared each other down then she ran off to get ready and I started looking for the dress I had picked out for the occasion. I needed to beat my mom. We had these sort of agreements a lot because we both get carried away watching our favorite shows or reading that we lose track of time. My mother is a fangirl. I guess it's genetic.
She admitted to me that she named me Hope because she never lost hope on her otps so that was like her word. Of course she didn't tell my father that was the reason for my first name until later. He gave me my middle name which is Belle. Want to guess why? He's obsessed with everything Disney. Again, it must be genetic.
My mother and I had showered before starting to watch Friends fortunately so all we had to do is look presentable like if we had spent all afternoon perfecting our look. I did my simple make-up first then used my curling iron to make my hair wavy. With five minutes left until leaving time I quickly changed into my dress and put on a pair of heels. I grabbed my bag, which I would leave in the car, and put my sneakers in there along with some other things. I ran out of my room and down the stairs.
"I'm done first!" I yelled.
"Wrong." A voice said from the living room. I saw my mother sitting in the couch. "I've been ready for almost twenty minutes."
"How do you do that?" I asked amazed. "Teach me your sorcery!"
"Maybe one day." She said. "Your father is outside. Lets go."
We quickly exited the house and got into the car. Being an only child has its perks like having all the backseats to myself. But it also means you don't have anyone to annoy during the ride.
Half an hour later we arrived in the restaurant and my father parked the car. We all got out and I had my small bag that only fit like three things. We walked into the restaurant and of course it was some fancy place. The waiter guided us to our table and we sat down. The Webber's weren't here yet.
"Rules." My father said looking at my mother and I as someone put menus on every spot. I wasn't really paying attention to the waiters.
"Do I have to?" I asked.
"Yes."
"I have to be polite and use great vocabulary. No swearing. No making stupid jokes. No making fun of the spoiled Webber's. No fighting with any of the Webber's. No texting. No harming any of the Webber's. No breathing. No blinking. No moving." I said.
