"Watch out!" I yelled as I roller skated down the school hallways. People got out of my way and some pointed.
I managed to stop before reaching the Gym and quickly took off my roller skates and ran inside with them in hand. I tripped over my feet as I ran towards Amy, one of the people in the Leadership Club.
"Amy!" I said panting.
"How is the Homecoming flyers distributing going?" She asked me as she looked at her clipboard and wrote things down.
"It's going...good." I said trying to catch my breathe. "We've got...a...problem...though."
Amy looked up from her clipboard. "What kind of problem?" She asked.
I took a deep breathe. "Someone ruined all the posters in the west wing that we hung up promoting Homecoming." I said.
Amy sighed. "Is it bad?" She asked a hint of worry in her voice.
I nodded still trying to catch my breathe.
"I'll go check it out for myself and see what we can do about it." She said walking away. "You just keep handing out flyers. You're doing great."
I sat down on the bleachers trying to regain my breathe. People who were part of the Homecoming dance comitee were hurrying around the Gym finishing final decorations and checking everything was ready for this weekend.
My cell phone started ringing and I answered it.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hope where are you?" Kayla asked me.
"In the Gym. I'm taking a break from giving out flyers for Homecoming to people." I said.
"Everyone is asking why you haven't had lunch with us for the last couple of days." She said.
"Sorry. I've been busy with the Homecoming preparations and stuff." I said as I eyed Noah across the Gym working on a poster with two other people. "Anyways I'll be seeing you all this afternoon at my place like we planned. We can all talk then."
"I guess." She said and I waited knowing there was something on her mind. I looked at the flyers in my hands meanwhile. Amy had done a great job with the designs and the seniors even asked her for advice for some of the planning. She was complete natural at this type of thing and I had no doubt our senior year she would be in charge of the event planning. "Hope what's going on between you and Bobby lately?" Kayla finally asked me what was on her mind.
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"Well...there's just something different between you two lately and come on we've all noticed it. Felix told me the other morning Nichole went up to Bobby and him and Bobby compleltely lost focus on Nichole and starred off at where you were standing. Felix said Bobby was looking at you laughing like he used to look at Nichole and he was smiling like a dumbass and didn't even notice when Nichole ran off because she was late for class."
"Lies." I said with confidence. "Bobby likes Nichole so...he was probably imagining something that had to do with her and just happened to be looking my way. Stop trying to take things out of proportion."
"I guess that could be true..." Kayla said. "I'll see you after school then. Bye."
"Bye." I said and hung up.
I got up and hurried out of the Gym. Once outside I put on my roller skates once again and continued with my duty of spreading the Homecoming cheer.
As I gave out flyers and yelled out things that had to do with the Homecoming dance I thought about what Kayla had mentioned. In a way she had been right. Bobby has been acting different since that night he called me at three in the morning and told me about the third thing he had learned on how to get the girl he likes.
