It was the next day and the earls were on their way to the castle, Sunwoo laid his head on the olde male's shoulder and sighed. He wasn't ready for the date, in all honesty he questioned his feelings in the carriage. He normally wouldn't show a defeated look but he just let go of his barrier and let a sad look appear on his face.
The older male looked to his shoulder and pat the boy's head "Are you that nervous to see him? Just think of it as a normal hangout, it can't go wrong then." He smiled softly but he cursed at himself for helping the younger, he wasn't upset at anyone but he was saddened knowing he lost his chance.
The youngest removed his head and looked at the oldest "Haknyeon you've been very off since we left your place, you okay?"
The oldest nodded and smiled "Of course I'm fine Woo, you just need to worry about the date." He thought to himself as he put on a smile for the boy "Just worry about yourself Sunwoo, I don't mind staying as your friend as long as I'm by your side."
Meanwhile the prince was sitting in the dinning room waiting for his parents to leave the room, he looked over to his mother and sighed "Mom why are you so happy for this date, it's to the point you are involved. You weren't like this for the others." He crossed his arms and leaned back in the chair he was sitting on.
His mother rolled her eyes playfully "This is a special one, he actually came to me asking if he can have a chance. Just be happy it will be someone you know." She smiled as she went back to working.
The prince looked at his mom confused and decided to take a walk. He walked a good foot away from the dinning room before seeing his knight. He smiled and walked over "Chang when is this guy supposed come? I don't mind if they don't show up, I'm just curious."
Changmin rolled his eyes "He'll be here Chan, now go ahead and fix yourself up or wait in your study. I'll bring up your favorite cake in a bit." He smiled and whispered the last part before ushering the boy to go.
The prince laughed as he was being slightly pushed by the knight "Okay, okay~ I'll go to my room, and you better not be lying about the cake." He said turning around to face the younger boy "See ya in a bit." He then turned again and walked to his room, almost skipping.
The knight laughed while walking to the kitchen, he then spotted the queen swiftly grabbed a basket of food and spotted the boy "Ah Ji Changmin, please tell Chanhee to fix himself up in some casual clothes." She smiled and then left the room quickly.
The boy was left confused and just continued to grab a tea set and some cake for the prince and left the kitchen, he walked towards the princes room but hid when he heard talking."Sunwoo just go, you'll be fine~" Haknyeon pushed Sunwoo towards the throne room while rolling his eyes at the younger's complaining. He didn't want to be there but he wanted to support the boy as much as he can even if his heart ached "Sunwoo come on, you got this. You can win his heart."
Sunwoo wouldn't budge and just stuck onto the wall "Haknyeon I won't win his heart, he will reject me and our relationship before this will crumble!" The boy feared for the worst and didn't want that outcome, he didn't want his crush on the boy to ruin his friendship.
The knight sighed silently, he knew that he tried to keep the prince to himself for the past few days. He became closer to him but he couldn't keep acting selfishly, he needed to do his job. He left through another hall opposite of the two and went up to the princes room. Once reaching the room he knocked softly and opened the door "Chanhee your cake and tea are here. Also if you haven't already gotten dressed please go put on some casual clothes."
The royal had been playing the violin but stopped once hearing the the knight's voice "ah right, I'll go ahead and change." He placed down the instrument and went to his closet, after picking an outfit he went into his bathroom to change.
Changmin laughed seeing the boy rush, he closed the door then went to place the dishes on the older male's desk. "Please let the day go smoothly, I don't want this feeling to grow when I already know the ending." He moved his hair back out of his face and noticed a door open and close, turning around he saw Chanhee standing in more casual but still noble clothing "Chan you should hurry and eat the cake, you suitor should be here."
The male nodded his head, he was disappointed knowing he had another date to attend, he just wanted more time to think, but for now he kept his thoughts in the back of his head and went to eat the cake Changmin brought him. He sat at his desk and tried the cake, eyes lighting up happily.
Meanwhile the two earls were now in the courtyard, Sunwoo was convinced to come here after a lot but much needed talking from Haknyeon.
Haknyeon sighed "Sunwoo be real with yourself everything will be okay. why are you really worried?" He was being a mess himself but kept it deep down inside himself knowing the younger was struggling,
The younger just looked up to the sky, he knew that this overreacting could be nothing in the end "What is wrong with me today. I shouldn't be freaking out about a guy." he said leaning his head on the older's shoulder.
"Chanhee is lucky to have you, he's in your heart while I watch from afar. I'm jealous..." He spoke without thinking, he was jealous. The feeling he didn't want to admit for a long time had been jealousy towards the prince, not because of status but because of how much the younger felt for the royal.
