It's been a week since I left the Garrison, well, since Iverson kicked me out, and the deserts' only getting hotter by the second. I knew I needed to find something. Extra food and water maybe? A shelter? Anything.
And that's when I saw it. An old space motorbike only in need of a few repairs. I used the tools I had from the Garrison to make the repairs, and soon enough I was on my way to find some place to stay.
After about an hour of wandering around, I found an old wooded house that I figured would work. I hid my motorbike behind a tree and headed on in. The place seemed deserted, a few pieces of furniture yes, but nothing special. I decided I would find some food and supplies in the morning, and immediately crashed after hitting the couch.
~~The next morning
I woke up just in time to dodge his attack. As he went in for another punch I grabbed his wrist and used my other hand to push his elbow in the opposite direction, causing him to groan. Before he could do anything else I used my leg to bend his knees forward and he fell to the ground. I then pushed him down and put pressure on his wrists, ensuring he couldn't move.
"Who are you?!" I asked.
"Who am I? I think the question is who are you? This is my house and I don't remember letting you in!"
"I needed a place to crash, and I figured no one lived here. I'm sorry," I took a long pause, "But that doesn't mean I'm letting you go, not until we sort this out."
"What's there to sort out?" He asked. "This is my home and you're trespassing, now get off of me!"
I slowly released my grip and stood up, still being cautious of the boy right in front of me. He had black hair, about the length of a mullet, and piercing almost purple eyes, which I thought was strange.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Keith." He said brushing himself off, "And you?"
"Y/N."
His expression went from angry to puzzled, and I wondered what was going on in his head.
"Do I know you?" He asked, "It's just, you look familiar for some reason."
"If you had known me, you wouldn't have attacked me, so I'm going to go with no."
"Right. Well... why don't we "sort this out" and then I'll decide on what to do with you."And so we did, and his decision was a good one. He let me stay, and as time passed, we got closer. Keith was like my new family, and it turned out that I was his. His dad died a few years back and he never met his mom, so he was all alone. I told him about my family too, well, about everyone except Shiro. I wasn't ready to share that part of my life with Keith yet. We're a lot alike too. We're both hot headed and short tempered, and we can be extremely impulsive at times, which is something we understood about each other.
Keith and I ended up spending a lot of time together. We would participate in space motorbike races in the desert, which was our only source of income, and whenever we went to the Malocoti Market, we had each others backs. You never know what kind of low life's and cheapskates your gonna meet at what many people refer to as the black market.
Today was especially a bad day to go to the Market, but I had no other option. While racing, some guy cheated and rammed into my motorbike which then of course led me to spin out of control and almost break the entire bike. Thankfully, I didn't. Keith and I ended up needing to drag the thing home in order to make some repairs, but took a break before we headed back out.
"You're bleeding," He said while pointing to his temple.
"Huh," I laughed, "Didn't even notice. I guess that guy hit me a lot harder than I thought. I'm sure I'll be fine, I just need to power through today and fix my bike then I'll be able to take a long, long nap."
He laughed a little, "Well, I hope you enjoy that nap. Now, we should probably get going so we're not walking home in the dark."And so we got up and headed for the black market. Wonderful.
It took about thirty minutes to arrive, but Keith and I knew exactly where to go once we got there. Russ's Repair Shop. Russ is about the nicest person we know at the market, and when we're nice enough back, he gives us a discount.
"Hey fellas!" He said, "What can I get you today?"
"Hey Russ," I waved, "You got any space motorbike parts?"
"Sure thing! Should be in the back."
"Perfect, thanks!"
"You betcha!"
Sure enough, there they were. I grabbed a few gears and a wrench, and Keith grabbed some oil and a chain. We then walked over to Russ, got a 25% discount, and headed home.
