Soobin had provided everyone with comfortable blankets on which to sleep. The warm light of the candle was enough to lull one to sleep. Each and every one of them slept knowing that this would be their last comfortable sleep for a long while.

Even the rogue slept, covered only by her cloak as she sat in a corner, leaned against the wall. Her wrist was clasped in her other hand as if she was trying to stay awake, but had failed. She hadn't slept in several days. Not since the journey had started. This was the first comfort that she had felt in a long time.

When the sun rose, it lit up the entire cottage. No candles were needed for them to see the beautifully lit cottage. Soobin had already risen by the time the others had awoken, and he was nowhere in sight.

The birds chirped and leaves on the trees rustled. It was a comfortable morning. It was not too hot, nor too cold. It was precisely in the middle. On the table which Soobin had served them their stew the previous night, sat five cups of tea, all gone tepid. A small note was left, telling them that they could take their time if they so wished. HueningKai graciously took the cup of tepid tea and began to sip, the others following his lead. None had said a word to each other, but when they had heard multiple thuds from outside the cottage, they all simultaneously agreed to see what it was. The tea was placed haphazardly on the table as the group ran out. Beomgyu drew a throwing knife and (Y/N) drew a dagger, leading the group who had removed their weapons, opting for comfort in their current situation.

Outside, they had not seen what they expected. Rather than a monster, terrorizing Soobin's garden, or a foul creature attacking his house, the group exited to see Soobin tinkering with something on the side of his house. His navy blue coat had been removed leaving him in only a white button up and a pair of slacks that were tucked into his boots. His headpiece remained placed perfectly on top of his head, despite how drenched he was.

"What on earth are you doing?" HueningKai asked, rushing to his side. The two armed adventurers had let their weapons fall to their sides with a sigh of relief.

"Well, I figure if we are going to be gone for so long, I need something to water my flowers while I'm gone. I wouldn't want to have to start anew when I return," Soobin told them innocently, his mouth in a small pout.

It was the first time that all of them had seen Soobin in the sunlight. The jewels that adorned not only his head, but his ears as well, were sparkling in the morning sunlight. (Y/N) hadn't noticed the beautiful white jewel on the slightly pointed cartilage of his ear or the beautiful silver wire piece on the cartilage of his left ear, nor did she notice the small golden hoops placed strategically yet haphazardly on the lobes of his ears. Whilst these wonderful pieces of jewelry drew attention to his ears, they hid the slight point.

These jewels had the rogue thinking. She had never dared to do such a thing to her own ears. Whilst she had been exiled from both human and elf societies, she had still wanted to carry on some of the traditions of the elven people. After all, she was still an elf, even if they didn't wish for her to be one. Elven ears were sacred. A sign of beauty, purity, and tradition. As was their hair. (Y/N) didn't dare let anyone else touch her hair, nor her ears. They were important to her. They were her only chance to be accepted into elven society when she had long outlived the humans. Had she pierced her ears or cut her hair in any way, she would have been devastated. Perhaps she and Soobin shared different prerogatives. Whilst she valued the only connection she had left to her heritage, perhaps he hated it. Perhaps, he wished to be fully human and not recognize the elven side of his heritage as he had been cast away.

"You mean to say you're coming with us?" HueningKai asked, his eyes widening like a child who had just been given a new toy.

"I was convinced," Soobin replied, stepping down from where he stood to make a watering system for his plants.
