The evening turned night as the company carried on. Their bodies were exhausted from the nights travel, but if they wished to live another day, they had to continue on.
"We haven't a scrap of food?" Beomgyu whispered to Yeonjun as they pushed forward, their legs aching.
"Not a crumb. Our packs were taken upon entry," Yeonjun sighed, rubbing his temple once again.
Beomgyu began to mumble to Yeonjun, speaking of plans for how they would eat. Yeonjun listened to the plan intently. He began to think of any town near Bleakwick but everyone knew that the south was a barren wasteland.
Soobin and HueningKai walked side by side in silence, still reflecting on their past actions, or rather the lack there of. They both walked in shame.
Taehyun had chosen to walk with the rogue as if she were an old friend. (Y/N) seemed to enjoy the shrouding feeling the cloak offered in the dark.
"This adventure has all but treated you kindly," he began with a small chuckle.
The rogue said nothing, instead offering a small nod in response. It was barely visible beneath the fabric of her cloak.
"I must apologize for the trials and tribulations you have gone through. I hadn't any idea that such harm would come to you. If I'd thought of such a thing, I wouldn't have brought you. I should've known better than to bring a lady on an adventure," he scolded him, looking at the long grass as he stepped through it.
"I am not a damsel in distress," the rogue finally spoke. Her voice was shaky and choked.
"What?" Taehyun asked looking up to face the rogue.
"I said that I am not a wench in need of saving," she spat, her venomous tone catching the attention of the others who turned to look at her.
"I-" Taehyun began, soon after being cut off by the rogue.
"Do you think the head on my shoulders is for decoration?" She asked, looking to each of them separately. "Do you think I would helplessly allow them to spill my blood? Do you believe I have not earned the title of rogue? How lowly do you think of me? You only think of me as a maid? A useless half elf burden?" She questioned, stopping the entire group in their tracks as she asked each question. She was greeted with silence as she expected.
"I have slipped up a single time. I have let my guard down once. Once and only once. Whilst I may not have planned the events that occurred, I bent them to my will. I am more than a damsel in need of saving. I do not need any of you to be my knight in shining armour!" The rogue continued to spit out words at the company who watch with growing guilt.
"I may as well be no more than a street rat to you! Not only did I step in for a reason, but I let this happen to me on purpose!" She yelled, pointing to her ears that still bled slightly. "I have not lightly been given the title of Mistress Rogue! The entire elven kingdom has probably perished by now and you doubt me?" She asked.
"What do you mean perished?" Yeonjun asked, stepping towards the angry rogue.
"I have learned that one does not meet a king empty handed," the rogue spat, reaching into her cloak and pulling out a half empty vial, angrily tossing it to Yeonjun with force.
Yeonjun fumbled to catch the vial that hit his chest. The clear liquid seemed slightly viscous, thicker than any water he had seen. It was thick, but not thick enough as to hinder pouring.
"What is this?" He asked, inspecting the vial thoroughly.
"It is a potent poison. It is to be poured in a liquid to be used, but you aren't to mix it with blood, for then it will release a toxic fume that goes unnoticed by the eye and nose. This fume destroys their lungs and contaminates that around it with poison. The area was open but the fumes will have reached everyone. The entire kingdom of elves is done for," she explained, angrily snatching her vial back from Yeonjun.
