Spencer's POV
I wake up and find myself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling. The clock on the wall says that it's 9:52 a.m. Where am I? And how did I get here? I wonder to myself. I try sitting up but feel a sharp pain near my stomach. All of a sudden, it hits me—I was stabbed and shot by Rosalina. I uncover the blanket on my left leg and see bandages around it. Woah. Just then, I hear a knock on the door and I look up to see an elderly nurse walking in.
"Oh, you're awake," the nurse says happily. "How are you feeling, Dr. Reid?"
"Um, fine I guess." I give her an awkward smile.
"I'm not sure if you remember, but you were shot and stabbed."
I chuckle. "Oh, yeah. I definitely remember."
"Well, you're safe here." She smiles warmly. "My name is Debra and I'll be your nurse for today."
I watch her as she checks my vital signs. "Um, is my team here?" Truthfully, I really want to see Lina. The last time I saw her she was beating Rosalina up.
"Yes, I can go get them if you'd like."
"I would like that very much." I watch her as she finishes up and leaves the room. I think back to last night's events and shudder as I remember getting tortured. Then I remember Lina's rage—I've never seen her like that.
"Knock knock?" says a voice and I recognize it as Prentiss'. I look towards the door and see the whole team, except for Lina, is there.
Grinning, I greet, "Hey, Emily."
"How are you feeling?"
"Eh, I've felt better," I reply and everyone chuckles. "Where's Lina?"
"She's sleeping in another room." Rossi comes closer to me. "Put up one hell of a fight last night." Everyone nods in agreement.
"Is she hurt?" I ask, getting worried.
"She has some cuts and a couple of bruised ribs," Hotch answers, "but the doctor said she should be fine in a few weeks."
I sigh in relief. "Okay, good."
"Worried about your girlfriend, Pretty Boy?" Morgan teases and I roll my eyes. "She's a tough woman. You should've seen Rosalina—she's dead."
I frown. Even though Rosalina did terrible things, it's still a life lost. "Well, as long as Lina's fine."
"We just wanted to see if you're okay." JJ puts her hand on my shoulder. "The doctor said you'll need to stay here for at least a week."
I groan at the news. "A week??? That's 604,800 seconds of my life wasted!" Everyone just rolls their eyes at me and laughs.
"Get some rest, kid." Morgan pats me on the shoulder. "I'll let Lina know to come see you."
"Actually, can you not tell her I'm awake? I want to surprise her."
He chuckles. "Alright alright."
After that, the team leaves the room and shuts the door. I decide to close my eyes and rest for a bit before Lina comes. A few hours later, I hear the door opening and open my eyes a bit, and I see that it's Lina. I quickly close my eyes again. Maybe I'll scream out all of a sudden and scare her. I feel her presence near me as she sits down in the chair next to me.
"Hey, Spence," Lina says. I feel my heart melt with joy when I hear her sweet voice. "I hope you wake up soon because I can't wait to see your smile again." She grabs my hand and laces her fingers through mine, squeezing it. "I was so scared for you, I thought you were gonna die." She sighs and I hear her sniffling a bit. I kind of feel bad for not opening my eyes to comfort her.
"Listen, Spencer... I need to tell you something." She starts. "From the first day I met you, I've been happier than I have ever been in such a long time. I love how you make me laugh, comfort me when I'm not feeling my best, and even though you don't like hugs—you give me the best hugs that I've ever gotten.
"I also love it when you ramble on about the things you're passionate about, just because your voice is so wonderful and calming to listen to." She giggles softly. I feel my heart rate increase, then suddenly my cardiac monitor goes off, beeping like crazy. "Spencer?" Lina stands up. I hear someone else enter the room.
"Is everything okay?" a voice asks and I recognize it as Debra's.
"I don't know, I was just talking and it went off," states Lina.
"Can you step outside for a moment, sweetheart?" Debra asks and I hear Lina exit the room. "Alright, you can stop pretending to be asleep now." I open my eyes in surprise.
I tilt my head curiously. "How did you know?"
"A pretty girl like her, and the way she was holding your hand while talking to you. This isn't the first time where I've had patients' monitors go off because of it."
I chuckle. "We're just friends."
"Mhm." Debra raises an eyebrow suggestively. "Anyways, close those pretty eyes and I'll tell her she can come back in now." She winks at me and I pretend to be asleep again. Five seconds later, I hear Lina's voice again.
"Is he alright?" Lina asks.
Debra replies, "He's just fine, honey."
"Thank you." Lina sighs in relief and sits back down with me. "Phew, that scared me." She laughs and holds my hand again. "So I was going to say that you were the one who saved both of us last night." She slowly begins. "When I was knocked unconscious on the floor, I felt like giving up, just like how I did a few years ago. I wanted to just lay there on the floor and wait for Rosalina to kill me....
"But then I thought about you—how I wanted to be able to see and be with you again. So I got up and fought for the future memories that I want to make with you... the future hugs, smiles, and conversations." At this point my face feels like it's on fire. "I guess what I'm trying to say is—I like you a lot, Spencer Reid, and I want to share my life with you."
I feel her face next to mine and my cheeks get hot. What is she doing? I wonder to myself. But soon enough I get my answer. I feel her soft lips on my forehead as she gives me a kiss. My heart starts pounding and I'm worried that my cardiac monitor will go off again, but I manage to calm myself when she moves away—the feel of her lips still lingering there.
"I wish I could tell you this while you're awake, but I don't know if you feel the same way as I do," Lina says softly. Yes I do! I like you a lot, Lina! I'm too embarrassed to let her know I was fake-sleeping the whole time, so I keep quiet. Suddenly, Lina's phone rings and she picks up. "Hello?" she answers. "Yes, sir. I'll be there." She hangs up and sighs. "Sorry, Spence. I gotta go, Hotch wants to speak with the team."
I feel her let go of my hand and leave the room so I open my eyes. I touch my forehead on the spot where she kissed me and feel like I'm on cloud nine. Lina likes me. A huge smile spreads across my face.
