Spencer's POV

It is around seven p.m. when the jet lands, and after saying goodnight to my team, I drive to Lina's apartment.

Soon, I arrive and I'm knocking on the door to her place. I wait a few minutes, but there is no answer so I use my key and unlock the door. The place is dark and empty so I assume that she's asleep. I walk down the short hallway and notice that the bathroom light is shining from underneath the door.

"Lina?" I call out hesitantly. "It's me, Spence." There's no answer but I can hear sobs coming from inside and I start to worry. I try the doorknob but it's locked.

"Go away, Spencer!" Lina cries.

"Lina, let me in!" Panic spreads through me.

"I'm a mess right now, okay?"

"I don't care. I just want to see you and help you. Please, Lina, I love you so much and knowing that you're hurting... i-it's killing me."

A few minutes later, I hear her unlock the door and open it a crack. I slowly push the door wider and see Lina standing in a sports bra and shorts. My mouth slightly drops open at the red scars all over her torso. There are the ones made from the Flesh Carver, Rosalina, and the most recent one on her leg from Caleb Russell.

"There, now you see it." She wipes away a tear.

I shake my head. "I..." Lina always hides her scars from me, so this is the first time I've ever had a good look at them. "Why are you upset though?"

"Because of these." She gestures to the marks on her stomach. "They're daily reminders of how cruel the world is." She breaks down in tears, wrapping her arms around her torso.

"Aw, Lina." I take a step closer and give her a hug. "It's true, the world can be cruel. But think about it, everyday we go to work and catch all these bad people, slowly making it a better place." I stroke her hair. "These scars... they show that you survived it all."

"I hate them." Lina sniffles. "And they're ugly... it makes me insecure."

"I have scars, too. Look." I stand up and take off my own clothes until I'm only in my boxers. Lina looks up at me, her eyes trail from my face to my torso, covered with healed gashes that were made from Tony and Rosalina. She turns away from me. "You're so beautiful, Lina," I whisper fondly.

She stands up and frowns. "You call this beautiful?" Her voice cracks.

"Yes." I get down on the floor and kneel, looking up at her. Then slowly, I place my lips on the scar on her thigh. I make my way up, kissing every healed cut, slash, and wound on her body.

"Spencer..." She closes her eyes, trying to fight back more tears.

When I reach her collarbone, I trail my lips up her neck and to her mouth, kissing her passionately. "You are beautiful, Lina. I don't care that you have scars or what you look like, you are the most beautiful woman to me and I love you so, so much." I blink and a tear rolls down my cheek.

With tears streaming down her face, she slowly breaks into a small smile. "I love you so much, too, Spencer." She wraps her arms around my neck, hugging me close. I do the same and put my arms around her waist. Every inch of bare skin on our body touches and I shudder from the warmth of it.

"C'mon let's go to sleep." I scoop her up in my arms and she giggles, making me smile. It's been so long since I've heard that sound.

"You're so warm, Spence." She presses her cheek against my chest. "And I can hear your heartbeat."

I blush and carry her to the bedroom, gently placing her on the bed. I close the blinds and crawl in with her, pulling the covers over our heads. She laughs when I move on top of her, pressing my lips on her belly to blow a raspberry.
