Hurt. Rage. Jealousy.
That's all I can feel right now as I watch Lina walk back into the room. How can she be so oblivious to what that so-called "Chief" Nelson is doing?
I shake my head and sigh, putting my hand on my cheek where Lina slapped me. It didn't physically hurt, but it makes me sad that I made her so angry. So I start pacing back and forth, trying to think of a way to make it up to Lina, when my thoughts are interrupted by Hotch."Reid?" Hotch comes out of the room and closes the door.
"Yeah?" I already know I'm going to get lectured.
"What happened in there earlier was completely unacceptable behavior," he scolds.
"I know." I rub the back of my neck in embarrassment. "It won't happen again."
"Will you be able to cooperate with Agent Yang and Chief Nelson?"
I look down at my feet. "Yes, sir," I reply, even though all I want to do is hug Lina and beat the shit out of Nelson.
Hotch nods. "Good." He puts a hand on my shoulder. "I'll also try to keep Nelson away from Lina. You're not the only one who notices what he's doing."
I glance up at him and smile. "Thank you." I take a deep breath and enter the room with Hotch. I look at Nelson and it takes every fiber in my being to not smash his face in.
Nelson checks his watch. "I'm going to run some errands." He quickly brushes past me and leaves the room. I sigh in relief, knowing that he's gone I can finally relax.
"Okay, we've already wasted enough time. Let's start," Hotch states.
"We got some bomb fragments from each attack to analyze." Morgan points to fragments of metal and plastic on the table.
Hotch leans closer to the pieces. "Did you find anything?"
"We did notice that each bomb had a smiley face with heart eyes carved into it," Lina answers. She picks up a piece from each bomb and shows it to everyone. "It's very faint, so it's hard to see."
JJ takes a sip of her coffee. "We're thinking that this is the UnSub's signature." I furrow my brows. The doodle looks so familiar, like I've seen it somewhere before.
Hotch sighs. "No witnesses at the crime scenes?"
"If there were any, they were all killed," Morgan states.
"Alright. It looks like there isn't much more information."
Rossi rolls his eyes. "Some chief of police this guy is. We walk in and we barely get anything to work with."
"We should all get some sleep first, we'll be more focused in the morning." Hotch takes out his cell phone. "I'll book us rooms at a hotel."
I take this opportunity to talk to Lina. "Hey, Lina?"
"What?" she snaps at me.
"I-I'm sorry about earlier."
"Well it's too late now." With that, she storms away.
Hotch clears his throat. "I can only get us six rooms. Does anyone want to share?" I glance at Lina, hoping she'd want to. She looks at me and turns away.
Morgan senses the tension between us. "I'm open. Reid, can I share with you?"
I nod my head. "Yeah, sure."
"Okay. Thanks, guys." Hotch quickly finishes booking our rooms and hangs up. After that, we drive to the hotel to settle down for the night.
When Morgan and I reach our rooms, I flop down on the bed with a sigh. "Arghhh!!!" I yell in frustration.
