Chapter 21: My Ex-butler's Confession

 A/N: I'm thinking whether to end this story on the 25'th or the 30'th chapter. What do you guys think?

            After lunch, both I and Kai went to the Sunrise country club to meet up with a very important person, Saki from the Ayuzawa family—the CEO of their family’s corporation which happened to be an old time friend of Hiromi and who happens to have her eyes on Kai Murazaki. Takeshi went as Hiromi’s butler instead of Kaoru because Kaoru was still needed in the kitchen when they left.

            They all settled in for tea as Takeshi served them. They were waiting for Saki to arrive and after a few while, Hiromi finally saw a tall, brunette girl heading their way.

            “Kai, I want you to meet a good friend of mine, Saki. She’s now the new head of thr Ayuzawa Corp. as the position was passed down to her by her father about a month ago,” Hiromi said introducing Saki to Kai delightfully.

            “Please to meet you princess,” Kai said with a smile in his face as he took Saki’s hand and kissed it gently. Hiromi saw Saki blush as Kai did that. He really is such a charmer. She thought.

            “I’m glad I’ve finally met your acquaintance. I’ve been keeping my eye on you for so long already you know,” Saki said with a wink and giggled.

            “Oh did you now. I’m honored,” Kai answered with a giggle as well.

            “You see Kai, my friend have liked you for a long time now. She has always dreamt of uhm…let’s go straight to the point, she wants to be your girlfriend,” Hiromi said with a grin on her face.

            “Is that…so?” Kai said looking from Saki to Hiromi intriguingly and added, “So your plan is…”

            Kai wasn’t able to finish his sentence as Hiromi answered immediately saying, “I think you already got some clues about my plan. They are soon to announce our engagement to the public you know but on that day, no engagement party is going to happen. Instead we’re all going to announce a tri-corporal partnership between our companies. I’m sure both your parents and my parents would prefer this than just a partnership between our companies. After all, this is a once in a lifetime chance, you know to be able to do business with the ever successful Ayuzawa corp.”

            “Oh Hiro, you’re flattering our company too much,” Saki answered and added. “But of course I’m only willing to do this as long as your marriage is not gon’na happen.” She had a grin on her face now and Hiromi can’t help but grin as well as she answered, “Of course, that is the best part of the deal.”

            “So that’s your plan after all. You’re giving me off so that you can be free. And why is it that you told me I can still be normal with my girls and all if you’re giving me to her,” Kai said with a piercing gaze on Saki but Saki just giggled humbly and said, “Cause I’m not going to force you to fall in love with me or be mine dear. I only wanted you to try. I don’t care about your other girls; I just want to be a part of your life even just for a little.”

            “Why?” Kai asked intriguingly as he faced Saki.

            Saki just gave him a smile and said, “Do you remember meeting a girl named Sakura when you were about seven years old?”

            “Oh, I think it’s about time to leave you two alone to talk. After all, Sakura did told me she wanted to have this conversation with you alone,” Hiromi said as she took the last sip of her tea before standing up.

            “Thank you Hiro-chan,” Saki told her happily and Hiromi just smiled at her before she goes.

            “Let’s go Takeshi,” she said and they were off immediately.

            Hiromi was a little tired so she decided to go home immediately. After all, she still wants to accomplish something for that day, something that had been bothering her all afternoon long, something that involves her butler—Kaoru.

            As they were on the car on the way home, Hiromi can’t help but feel the awkwardness between her and Takeshi. Then she remembered what her cousin mouthed to her during lunch. ‘He saw.’ She can’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, Takeshi was kind’a hurt or maybe upset with the kiss.

            “Takeshi-kun,” Hiromi started after a few while and Takeshi just answered, “Yes mistress?”

            “Hey, don’t call me that. Call me like how you used to please,” Hiromi said arguably.

            “Sure Hiro-chan, what is it?” Takeshi asked with a blank expression on his face.

            “I’m getting married,” Hiromi said laughing awkwardly. She wanted to know how he will react to it.

            “I know that Hiro-chan. Omedeto,” he said with a clear forced smile on his face.

            “You—you don’t have a problem with that? You—you’re okay with me being married,” Hiromi asked confusingly but Takeshi didn’t answer. Instead he docked down his head and took a deep breath.

            “So that’s how it is. I see,” Hiromi said sounding kind’a pissed off with how Takeshi acted but that anger immediately slept away as he saw Takeshi’s tears as he lifted up his head and said, “Of course not. Of course I’m not fine with that. It hurts you know Hiromi. The fact that I will never be even an option for you, that I will never be a guy that your father will entrust you with, that I will forever be just a mere servant in their eyes, it hurts. ‘Cause I do love you Hiromi, I really do. My feelings for you NEVER changed. But you see, I’m trying to be okay. I’m trying to accept the fact that even though you will never be mine, at least once in your life you reciprocated my feelings for you. That will be a memory I will forever keep. So even though you’re getting married, at least, let me be your shoulder Hiromi. Let me be your best friend, ‘cause of all honesty, I’m really not ready to not be a part of your life anymore.”

Takeshi’s eyes were full of tears and Hiromi encaged him in a warm hug immediately saying, “Oh Takeshi, you’ve always been a part of my life and you will forever be a part of it. No matter what happens, no matter where I go, you will always have that special place in my heart. After all, you were my first love. And now, you are the best friend that anyone could have ever had.”

Takeshi’s tears stopped from falling and it was replaced by a smile on his face as he hugged Hiromi tightly and said, “Arigato.”
