“Hey Hiromi, wan’na go out to town with me?” Tristan asked happily as he approached Hiromi after class one day.
“Like I’ve been telling you these past two weeks, no. I don’t want to go out with you,” Hiromi replied with a dull expression on her eyes. She was about to walk away like she usually does but this time; Tristan didn’t let her go anywhere. He grabbed her hand and pulled her close to him saying, “What do I need to do to make it up to you?”
“Nothing, cause that will never happen,” Hiromi answered annoyingly. “Now let go of me or I’ll claw your eyes off,” she threatened him menacingly.
But he didn’t have to do it anymore as Kaoru appeared before them and pulled the both of them apart saying, “It’s time for my mistress’ afternoon tea so if you please excuse us,” Kaoru said bowing respectfully at Tristan but with an intimidating smirk on his face.
He started escorting Hiromi out and soon they were joined by Tetsu who were having girl trouble of his own. But before they could even go out of the door Tristan spoke up again saying, “I’m gon’na make you mine Hiromi. You better be ready for me.”
Hiromi didn’t bother to look back but Kaoru had trouble ignoring it. His hand balled into a fist and he had this gaze of evil on his face as if Tristan just awoken the devil within him.
“He’s not worth it. Just come on,” Tetsuya said stopping what’s about to happen next as he noticed the sudden change in Kaoru’s aura but he was able to hold it all in and walked out of there like it was nothing.
“Ojou-sama,” Kaoru called out to him as Hiromi already started walking further from them. Hiromi stopped dead on her tracks as she let them catch up to her.
“Ojou-sama, are you just going to let that guy own you like that?” Kaoru asked furiously.
“He’s all talk and no game. I wouldn’t worry about the likes of him,” she said as she started to walk away from them once more.
But that’s not how Kaoru sees it. His master was already starting to warm up before, she was starting to smile and look at the world differently but when that guy came along, she went back to her grumpy old self. And he doesn’t like that; he doesn’t want that to happen.
There’s nothing more precious that mistress’ smile. I need to protect it. He thought to himself as he watched her back walk away from him.
…
After dinner time, Kaoru was all set to do what he’d been itching to do all week long. So he went upstairs to where the rest of the bedrooms are looking for one particular person. He knocked on the door politely as he reached his room.
“Oh, this is a surprise,” Tristan said to Kaoru as he opened the door. His face doesn’t seem like it was surprised at all.
“Did my princess send you here to give me something? A good night kiss perhaps?” He added, his face letting up.
“Cut the crap!” He said angrily, his eyes started squinting in irritation.
“My, such language from an A-rank butler,” he answered with a grin on his face. Kaoru looked at him shockingly. Indeed they had been there for weeks now but people actually didn’t know that Kaoru was Hiromi’s butler yet. But it’s not Kaoru didn’t want to hide it from anyone either. It was due to her master’s request not to tell anyone for the fear that he’ll be casted out.
Tristan can’t help but laugh at Kaoru’s reaction. “How did I find out? Com’ on it’s not that hard. With enough research, I already found out everything I need to know about my future girlfriend. Plus you keep calling her mistress anyways which gave it away entirely,” he said.
“Don’t play with my mistress. She’s not a toy. “Make her mine,” “future girlfriend,” who do you think you are?” Kaoru said as he shoved Tristan to the door in pure hatred.
“And who do you think you are too, he’s boyfriend? Ke, you’re just a butler. You can never be together,” he said arrogantly.
With that, Kaoru started to weaken. His legs started to tremble and his grip started to loosen. It was as if somebody dropped a bomb on him.
“I—never pictured us together,” Kaoru answered as he let go of Tristan and started to walk out of the door but before he could, Tristan made sure that he sent his message loud and clear as he spoke up again saying, “Com ‘on. I see the way you look at her. You like her!”
Kaoru’s eyes bulged out if his socket as he heard those words, not because he never knew of it but because he knew it all along but tried to ignore it ‘cause he knew that what Tristan was saying now is true.
“So you know what, it would be best for you to help me out instead. We’ll be together and you’ll forget about her. And don’t worry, I’m serious about Hiromi. I really do want her so she’ll be safe in my hands,” Tristan added.
“Keeping her safe is my job,” Kaoru said irately as he walked away from there at last. That was definitely not the encounter that he have thought of but it will be something he’ll sure remember.
He’s right. He was all right. I like her…no, it’s more like I’m in love with her. That’s why I can never let her end up with a guy like that. Never! I’ll keep her safe. Kaoru taught to himself as he started to walk back to his room.
