*Five Years Later*
Hiromi smiled happily as she was walking down the red carpet. It’s the opening of their new restaurant, Le Petite and it was her turn to make the grand entrance for the press. She’s on the hoots at the eyes of the press at that moment since her father just officially passed the business to her, an event she never thought would actually happen.
“Miss Hiromi, how does it feel that your father finally entrusted the business to you?” One of the reporters asked.
“Is it true that you’re the one who designed and organized every bit of detail involved in this new restaurant?” Another reporter asked.
“Would we be able to expect more from you and the company in the future,” said yet another reporter and Hiromi just smiled at all of them and confidently answered, “I’m overjoyed that I was finally entrusted with the business. I know that my father trusts my abilities and skills and dad, I will make you proud,” Hiromi said as he stared at his father who was waiting for her at the door of their new restaurant.
“Opening this business, it had been quite a struggle from the beginning. I even thought we wouldn’t make it in time for the grand launching but I worked my brains off ‘til morning for this restaurant, I was on this site everyday just to see it’s every progress and I’m so glad we finally got to see this day. And if you’re asking me if you’ll be able to see more from us, well heck yeah. This is just the beginning. This is the Kokubo at its finest year,” Hiromi said as she smiled for one last time to the press and finally went to meet her dad.
“I’m so proud of you sweetie,” Mr. Kokubo said as she welcomed Hiromi with a hug and kisses.
“Nice speech, very well said,” her grandpa said as he hugged her as well. Tetsuya patted Hiromi at the back and her aunt also gave her a hug and a peck on the cheeks.
“Thanks everyone,” Hiromi answered.
“Is he here?” Hiromi asked, her eyes glinting in delight.
“He’s in the kitchen,” Mr. Kokubo said with a smile on his face and Hiromi immediately run to where the kitchen was.
She burst towards the door making a huge clang which made everyone stare at her but Hiromi’s eyes began to well up with tears when he saw him…her best friend…as he smiled at her in delight.
“Takeshi! Welcome home!” Hiromi said as she run towards him giving him a huge hug.
“Thank you Hiro-chan,” Takeshi said happily.
“Yokatta! Yokatta ne? You finally accomplished your dream,” Hiromi said patting him in the back.
“Hai! And you know what makes me happier,” Takeshi asked.
“No. What?” Hiromi asked confusingly.
“To be able to work under you again,” he said with a smile on the face and Hiromi just smack him in the shoulders saying, “You’re working with me Takeshi, not under me.” They laughed at one another heartily and ended up hugging once more. For those five years that Takeshi was away, they never lost contact and that’s why they became the best of friends.
Their laughter died down when they started to hear people clapping and shouting outside though. It was as if something really exciting is happening outside those kitchen doors and they have no idea what.
“What is that,” Takesi asked.
“Dunno,” Hiromi answered.
They got out of the kitchen with the rest of the staff who also got curious of what’s going on outside and when they were finally near the dining area, Hiromi’s legs just froze.
Kaoru was standing there all smiles with a bouquet of flower in his hand and right next to him was a display of cakes, with each cake being the shape of a letter and when you read it all together it says, “Hiromi, will you marry me?”
“I’m back!” Kaoru said all smiles as he approached Hiromi, handing her the bouquet. “And I’m here to fulfill my promise,” he added as he knelt down in front of her. He took something out of his pocket. At that moment, Hiromi as already in tears but she smiled happily as she saw a diamond ring in Kaoru’s hand.
“From the day we first met, to this day right now, I never stopped loving you Hiromi. So here I am right now, kneeling down in front of you, begging you to please marry me,” he said in all seriousness but everyone in the room started clapping and teasing again.
“Baka!” Hiromi shouted which ‘caused everybody’s clapping and shouting to die down. “Of course I’ll marry you,” she added as he hugged him tightly when Kaoru stood up. Everyone immediately gave him a round of applause and began congratulating them.
“I love you,” Kaoru said as he gave Hiromi a kiss full of passion, a kiss they had both waited for a long time.
